I appreciated Dave's assistance with JAWS. I never personally knew Dave but was on the Leader Dog list also. I enjoyed his information and sense of humor, especially knowing of all of his medical problems. My condolences to Tammy and the family.

Dave's passing has deeply saddened me. A few weeks ago, Dave returned to Indy to provide training at Bosma. I am so thankful that we were able to meet in person once again and visit for a few minutes. Dave and I became acquainted in 1992, when I was one of his instructors at Bosma Center. We have been friends ever since. I am so pleased that Dave was able to find true happiness over the last several years. When I think of Dave, I am reminded of his intelligence, humor, genuine love for dogs, compassion, courage and determination. Again, my heart is deeply sad. However, I take comfort in knowing that Dave is free of life's struggles and without a doubt is looking (with unimpaired vision) at the glorious kingdom of our Heavenly Father.

To the greatest older brother I could have been blessed with. He was a great leader, mentor, and play mate growing up. My head will be filled with great memories old and new. I had the pleasure of meeting some of his great friends in Florida this past week and a half. Take care to you all and God bless Dave!

The thing I always admired about Dave was how he could stay positive and calm in every situation. He never sat around and felt sorry for himself or let his diabetes and blindness prevent him from living and working at 100%. He just exuded this confident calm that never failed to be an inspiration to me.

He was always willing to answer a JAWS question or be a shoulder to cry on. He could always give good advice, whether it was something I wanted to hear or not.

He was one of the funniest people I knew, whether it was an episode of South Park or a blindness incident, Dave would make it funnier

He will be greatly missed.

I was deeply shocked and saddened when I learned of Dave's illness, then when I learned yesterday of his passing. Others have already said it, but I feel the same. I never met Dave in person, but I felt like he was a good friend. I got to know him through the Leader Dog and NAGDU lists, and we also corresponded occasionally privately. He was able to help me with some JAWS questions I had, and we also just chatted about other things. He just seemed to be very genuine and a real nice guy, and I really enjoyed his sense of humor and fun. He will be greatly missed by many.

My deepest condolences to Tammy and Dave's family, and I send pats and hugs to Maddox and Traverse, who I'm sure miss their dad a lot.

Tammy and Family,

I only knew Dave from the Leader Dog list, but was saddened to learn of his passing. He brought humor and wisdom to the list. Give Traverse and Maddox a pat from me.

Tammy and family,
I send my deepest condolences for you at this time. But even more than that, I send my prayers to the Lord Jesus that you receive comfort and peace and strength.

I have known Dave since 2006. I was allowed to come to FL for JAWS Scripting. As soon as he found out from the Leader Dog list, he made himself available to me at any time for questions. I really appreciated his kindness and warmness.

I know that Dave will truly be missed by many all around the world. Once again, may God bless and bring peace to you all.

Although I only "met" Dave through the Leader Dog list, it was always a pleasure to share posts. His sense of humor and his compassion for people and issues were delightful and I feel as if I knew him. My sincere sympathy is extended to Tammy and the rest of Dave's family and good friends. He had a way to make us all smile. I'm sure that's still happening.

Save me a spot up there, Dave!

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to David's family and close friends. I did not know David very well but I did spend a week being trained by David at his workplace and I think that was enough to gauge his personality. He was one of the nicest fellows I have ever met and I know he will be missed by many.

I spent the morning saving all the e-mail correspondences that I had with Dave. Many have posted on the NFBF, NAGDU, and FLAGDU lists their thoughts and memories of what a great guy Dave was, how hard and dedicated he was, and how much he will be missed. I have been wondering what I could write about how special he hsa been to me, and how much I loved his friendship.

My letter to David:
I was reading the e-mails from you, Dave, and I would laugh and chuckle because you always knew how to le me know exactly how you felt about whatever you were writing about with your little addages such as "lol", "whew", "that would totally suck" (talking about a tree crashing into someones master bedroom), and my favorite..."Calgon..take me away". I could just picture you in a tub with bubbles all around...just chillin. Oh my dear friend, my heart is broken. My tears began this morning at church and now the dam has broken. I know my dear sensitive, caring, compassionate, and humorous friend you are certainly healthy now and looking into the face of God. Until we meet again...I will always miss you and treasure our friendship.

With heartfelt love and appreciation for you,
Merry
