I'm so fortunate to have known Brian during the last few years of his life. He was a tough and endearing customer who always taught me something about life each time he walked into my shop. I miss his inspiring presence and shall think of him often, especially every time I make shrimp and grits.
My warmest thoughts go out to his lovely family and many friends who will miss him so much.

If you're fortunate in this life you have loving parents who teach you life's lessons. I believe that Brian and Mary Jane's children were so blessed. I too feel I was given that blessing. However, you sometimes need a "go to" person to express, discuss, debate, or share ideas with. I was very lucky to have my Uncle Brian to always go to with such issues. You go through this life and collect very few true friends, I am glad to say besides being my Uncle he was one of those true friends. I will miss our phone conversations that would meander from sports(NY Giants), politics, child rearing, and always the previous or next trip to St. Barts. My wife, Kathleen and I had the great pleasure on many occasions to join Brian and MJ on St. Barts. Those memories will be among our most treasured. As others have written here and expressed recently, he fought a very courageous battle with Scleroderma. Through that you could see his strenght, courage, and perhaps most of all integrity. I hope just a bit of that may be reflected in our children, Allison and Brian. I know it certainly is present in his children and grand children. We are all better people for having know him. So Uncle Brian, locate that lime tree and the big cooler with the icy cold Caribes for the next time we meet.

I was privileged to know Bob as a fellow lifeguard at RM5 where we had more fun than we should have. He was full of enthusiasm, humor and a great sense of joy. Long after Bob left the beach, Bob Mooney stories did and still do enter into conversation; such a force was he.
Our hearts ache for MaryJane and the extended clan. Anyone who knew Bob understands what a huge loss this is.
Bob left us too soon but he left the world a better place for simply having been in it.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Becky and I have enjoyed a close friendship with Brian and Mary Jane for 17 years. We were next door neighbors in Mount Pleasant following Brian's retirement. I spent many memorable hours with Brian boating, fishing, enjoying friends, and conducting political discussions at Dunleavys Pub. During the "Pub Sessions" we solved many of the worlds problems, as well as those of a number of Pub regulars.
Over the years we watched his courageous fight with Scleroderma. We stood in awe as he refused to let it rob him of the ability to enjoy people and life. We will miss his sense of humor and that twinkling stare when he knew he had caught you in a joke or awkward moment. He was a wonderful caring friend to us___such a friend that comes along only rarely in a lifetime.
My hat will always be off to this elegant Irishman who autographed everything he did with excellence. He left us all with powerful examples of how to overcome adversity and live life to the fullest. We loved him and will miss him.
I fully expect that when my time comes a familiar Irishman with a sailboat, and a dog named Maggie, will pick me up for one last fishing trip. God speed Brian.
Much love, Jim and Becky

Uncle Brian was someone you met once and never forgot. I remember summers at Robert Moses Beach and cook outs in your back yard. Trips to St Barth's. You lived life to the fullest and fought a hard fight. While not always seeing eye to eye, I have some of the best memories of the times I spent with you and your family. Love, Jenn
