Harvey Thomas Obituary

Harvey Raymond
(Jake) Thomas

Harvey Raymond (Jake) Thomas, known all his life as Jake, was born in Reading, Pa., July 5, 1921. He went to be with the Lord March 8, 2010, at the family home where his children, James and Susan, and his wife, Eileen, of 64 years, were by his side.

Jake was very proud of his tour of duty in the Navy during WWII. He volunteered for sea duty and ended up in "lighter than air" in San Jose, Calif. and he loved it.

He was an avid model train buff and enjoyed that mode of travel. He liked to travel and many miles were spent in a motor home seeing the country.

His occupation for many years was spent as a carpenter. He loved his job and said many times how great it was to earn a living doing what he loved to do.

He was a faithful husband and father, always looking out for the interests of his family.

He is survived by three grandaughters; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine; and niece, Judy, both of Reading, Pa.; and nephew Bob, of Clayton, N.Y. He was preceded in death by son, Steven; and sister, Lillian. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dogs for the Deaf, it was his favorite charity.

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17, 1:00 p.m. at the Eagle Point Veterans National Cemetery. Arrangements by Conger-Morris, Central Point.
