Vernon Ard Obituary
ROCK HILL - Mr. Vernon Ard, 77, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Revs. Steve Hogg, Jamie Burdette and Matt Rogers officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road.
A native of Greeleyville, S.C., Mr. Ard was a son of the late Zingle Ard and the late Frances Tyson Ard. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was in the Joy Choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Plant and worked for Georgia-Pacific, Inc.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy C. Ard of the home; his daughter, Beth Ard McCormick and husband, Andy, of Rock Hill; two brothers, Zingle Ard and James Ard, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Vera Culp and Laura Westmoreland, both of Rock Hill; and his granddaughter, Erin McCormick Tindle and husband, Jeremy, of Fountain Inn, S.C. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Luther Ard, Albert Ard, Kelly Ard, Roland Ard, William Ard and Archie Ard; and two sisters, Carrie Auten and Ora Lee Warr.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Building Fund, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
