Dr. Hughes taught my physical exam course in medical school. I remember telling her my plans about choosing a specialty and it really assured me to have her approval. It honestly felt like I'd had her blessing to move forward and was a moment that has stuck with me ever since. I'm very grateful that she taught me and always remember her kindness.

Ellen taught the 2nd year primary care course to all nurse practitioner
students with another colleague, Terry. It was a great class, my favorite of all classes. Ellen was a wonderful teacher and knew how to construct medical information via clinical cases that were absolutely riveting. She was kind and compassionate and best of all, had an incredible sense of humor. The world is poorer for her passing.
