Father Tom has been profound in my journey to become Baptized and Confirmed Catholic when I was 47 years old (2009). His sermons and his devoted actions inspired me to let go of my pain in sin and to open my heart to Jesus and let Him heal my emptiness. He taught me that the love of God is more powerful than any of my own shortcomings. Father Tom’s patience, devotion to prayer, and tender yet steadfast disposition have been so very inspirational. Some said his sermons were too long I always said I wanted them not to end. I love Father Tom. He will live always in my heart. I can see his smiling face and hear his beautiful voice as he is in Heaven praising our Lord and Savior.

Fr. Tom was so kind to me when my Dad died unexpectedly. I remember months later he gave a homily talking about a columnist who lost her dad. I felt very emotional hearing this sermon and afterward, when I was leaving, I told him how moving it was, but then I started crying. I was mortified to be crying in public and it was the kind of crying you can’t contain. Most people would have felt awkward or pretended not to notice or maybe even run for the hills. But Fr. Tom wrapped me in a hug and was so comforting and sweet. He will be missed.

I grew up at St. Francis and though I had moved away when Fr. Tom arrived, my parents enjoyed him as pastor. He visited my mother when she was ill and during one of their conversations, he recommended a particular cookbook that he liked to use that my mother then bought for me for Christmas that year. I still use it often! And I think of him every time. Fr. Tom also presided at my mother's funeral and was one of the priests who presided when my husband and I got married. He always had a kind, caring, and joyful presence.

We missed him at St. Charles and St. Francis. He was very good priest. I enjoyed to watch him because he can communicate with the deaf friends. His parent are deaf. I hope you like my picture taken. We pray everyday! Mary Falke

I have experienced many pastors as my job took me to different communities. Fr. Tom was an exceptional, loving man. It became my honor to work with him as well as to receive the benefit of his inspiring homilies and faith-filled persona. He was my friend and will be greatly missed.
Sincerely,
A St. Francis parishioner

Fr Tom was so dear to me as we served together in the Bellbrook community. I know he will be greatly missed. He was a pastor for all and never hesitated to give of himself

Fr. Tom Schmidt represented the love of God to each of his parishioners and all whose life he touched. He was my spiritual adviser for many years and has already been missed immensely for his example of unconditional love and wisdom and guidance.
Rest in Peace Fr. Tom in the glory of the Lord whose people you served.

We did not know him well. We attended his Masses on occasion when we moved into the Centerville area from Dayton.
Father Tom was a lively, happy priest and we enjoyed his homilies. He also was the celebrant for our son-in-laws parents when they past on to be with the Lord. We are sorry to hear of his battle with cancer and now of his passing. Eternal rest grant unto him O'Lord, let Perpetual Light shine on him and may he rest in peace. Amen
