I am sad to hear of Coach Butler`s passing, but it brought a smile to my face, as I thought back about my memories of him. I can still hear him singing `deciduous trees lose their leaves´ and see the faces of all his students as he showed off his double jointed elbows in class. Always socializing in the hall with his devilish smile between class with anyone. at the start of preseason practice he had conditioning station that we would cycle through and Coach Butler had the mental toughness station where we would hang off the metal support structure under the bleachers or drop to the ground and `let your teammates down.´ It was a real character builder. He was a big part of my football success. My parents ask his advice after church one Sunday, which got me the thumbs up to play. Coach also flew out to Philly with my folks to see me play in the army vs Navy game (which we won) and I´m sure it was tough on him being an army vet. coach Butler you bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. God bless you.!

Condolences to the family of John Butler. Sorry to hear of his passing. I knew John while teaching at Trotwood-Madison. I taught at the Jr high moving to the high school in September 1984. Taught along side John from them until his retirement. His sons were students of mine at the Junior High school. I am sure you will miss your dad. Prayers for you at your loss.
