THELMA JOHNSON Obituary
Age 96 of Moraine, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021, at her home. She was born on October 16, 1924, in New Burlington, OH, the daughter of the late Howard & Anna (Friermood) McClure. Mrs. Johnson was the Manager of the Moraine Air Park for over 35 years, and a member of the O.E.S. in Spring Valley. Preceded in death her husband Harold L. Johnson on Jan. 12, 2011, the former Flying Mayor of
Moraine; her daughter, Annette Johnson on Sept. 16, 2019; her 2 brothers, Ivan & Everett McClure; and by 4 sisters,
Geneva Coe, Evelyn Wagner, Frances Osborne, and Mary Ellen Earley. She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Harlow; sister-in-law, Wilma McClure; brother-in-law, Eddie Johnson and wife, Thelma; fur baby "Nugget", feather baby "Jewell"; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Pastor Doug Surber officiating. Burial New Burlington Cemetery, New Burlington, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (1 hour prior to service) on Friday at the funeral home. What a wonderful woman - and she had to be since she was Harold´s wife and support. I loved her.

Mrs Johnson was full of life. A real spitfire. She could keep up with us girls and usually pass me. Thelma used to go on jaunts with Annette, Patty, Reta and I. We went to Kentucky Horse Park to see the Christmas lights, concerts, Ohio State fair, Friendly's, Frischs' and Brian Brenner and VanDells shows at La Comedia. She was the chaperone. When we would get rowdy she would sternly say, "Now girls", then laugh. When we were all together I would call her Mom. She just laughed and joined in like one if the girls. She could walk every inch of the fair grounds; Monthomery, Greene,State and others. She was always at the WACO fly-ins, Moraine Air Park and several others. Thelma had a great laugh and a sense if humor. She faced life's difficulties head - on in her terms. She was a teenager in a seniors body. Mrs. Johnson was well known in Moraine in her capacity as Mayor Johnson's wife. She could be serious if need be. Thelma loved her wild birds and deer. She would sit for hours and watch them. Most of all she loved her family. Sincere condolences to Patty and extended family. Thelma will be missed. I'm honored to call her friend. Love to all, Chris
