Practical Wisdom
As a cousin born 10 years before me, I was often impressed by what she told me.
Because she was a decade older than me, I occasionally talked with her about problems. ON this day, I was about 12 or 13, and I was complaining because my parents wanted me to be riding our horse, Jewel. I'd been bucked off her and was fearful. Also, with emerging interest in friends and my social life, the horse held little interest for me.
Miriam's advice to me was one that I've applied many times -- and often quoted. "If you have to do something, you might as well act as if you like it."
Indeed, I've found that if you act in a positive way, very often your mind will follow and your attitude changes.
But the horse thing never did take hold.

I met Mariam by Faith. Her mother was a neighbor of mine who was in need of some alternations. I remember doing alterations for her and a bride to be in the family. What a wonderful family! I bought her miniature books.
Faith loved her daughter.
I’m sorry to hear of her passing and send my sincere condolences to the family.
Sincerely

Miriam was my older cousin, and I can't remember a time when I didn't admire her and want to hear what she was thinking and working on! She was a writer, an artist, a researcher, and a great story-teller. She loved chartreuse. In her younger years she wrote for American Home Magazine and lived in Mexico. She called her writing during this time, "disposable writing."
She began publishing miniature books in mid-life because, "No one ever throws one away. People will keep them tucked away for a hundred years in jewelry boxes and small drawers."
Like her little books, I will treasure my happy memories of times with Miriam.
