Age 78, of Dayton, passed away September 24, 2022. Visitation will be September 29, from 12pm to 1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, Beavercreek, OH.

I was heartbroken to learn of Dick's death. Having known this wonderful individual for over 40 years. Our friendship started when he became my neighbor, and I noticed a Printing press in his driveway. What started as my helping him with print jobs also exposed me to the fire service.
By helping Dick with his antique apparatus and joining him at a couple of Muster's sparked my interested. After he joined the Harrison Twp. Fire Dept. he asked me to join as a cadet. In doing so I began what turned into a 25 year career as a Firefighter/Paramedic. This would have never happened had I not meet him. Neither would have the instant showers that were common between our house or the blizzards that occurred. Things with Dick often turned into an adventure of some sort, such as moving the Linotype from the front to the back of the garage. Removing part of the pump assembly from his Mack Engine. I have many more fond memories that would have never occurred had I not meet him.
My condolences to his daughter Karen, whom also played a major part in my joining the Fire Dept. Please know I will always love you. His Grandsons, Craig and Chris, it was a pleasure watching the two of you grow up. Even though I got in trouble for encouraging Chris to take the training wheels off his bike. Know that Your grandfather was loved by many. May you all find comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is waiting for you all to join him in Heaven.
