Eva Hansen Obituary

HANSEN (Stinson), Eva Esther

Eva Esther Hansen, beloved sister, auntie, grandmother, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away suddenly on November 28, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia, at age 81.

Born on December 27, 1941 in Atlanta to Emma and George Stinson, Eva grew up in Cleveland Ohio with her mother and cherished grandmother, Mariah Lumpkin. The 1960 valedictorian of East Tech High, she attended Ohio State University. Moving to Los Angeles in 1965, she earned a Pepperdine University M.A. and became a celebrated elementary school teacher and reading specialist. She married Rod L. Hansen, the love of her life, in 1977. When Rod passed away in 1988, Eva retired to Atlanta to be near her father, his wife Sally, and extended family. There, she found wonderful friends and great medical caregivers. In retirement, she tutored children, mentored HIV-positive women, and counseled teens. She loved movies, popcorn, her dog, Kosah, good looking men, and above all, her family and friends. We sorely miss her wit and wise counsel, her radiant smile, and her inspiring zest for life, and we feel her love every day.

A celebration of Eva's life will take place in the spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva's honor are welcome at Georgia Equality or the Food Ministry of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Miss you my dear friend, when I first met you and I saw your beautiful home, I said if you can do it so can I. Such a great inspiration!

We were volunteers back in the day. She was always the one who never stop smiling when things were down. She never stopped talking about my legs. Her esscence would fill a room just by walking in. I will miss her.

Eva and I go back some 25 years. The warmest memory from the first time I met her was her unbelievable smile. Changed the energy entering a room.
Found something good in everyone she came in contact with. She will be sorely missed on this earth.

In loving memory of our precious Eva Hansen,
I extend most heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the Artistic Dogwood Garden Club. Eva was a most dedicated and active member, supporting her club diligently. Her love for flowers, designs, plants and gardening will be one of our fondest memories. She now rests in the Arms of our Lord and Savior. We will all meet again in Glory.

When I moved to Atlanta Eva was a vision of hope. When I saw her beautiful home I wasn't jealous I was expressed. I said if she could do it so can I. We even went to Italy with some of our favorite friends. We had the best holiday parties at her house. Eva brought the broom to jump at my wedding. I will always love you my friend
