Antonio Mendez Obituary
Tony was born June 26, 1921 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Ambrosina Mendez Cancel (Victor) and Antonio F. Mendez Sr. He moved to New York where he lived until joining the United States Navy in 1942. He married the love of his life, Minnie Tapp Mendez, on April 22, 1944. Tony spent his days watching Westerns and he enjoyed woodworking and model airplanes. He was a remarkable man and will be missed by his family.
Tony and Minnie had two daughters, Paula Mendez and Anita Mendez Hibbs, both residing in Texas. He had six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren plus one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Acosta (Manny); his brother-in-law, Tom Tapp (Joyce); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Minnie, three brothers and three sisters.
A visitation for Mr. Mendez will be from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Graveside Services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, December 29, 2023 at Hebron Cemetery with Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland, officiating.
Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center and condolences may be left on our online guestbook at www.PeeblesFuneralHome.com.
