Claire Smith Obituary

Claire M. Smith

Lebanon, NH - Claire M. Smith, 85, passed away on January 11, 2024, at DHMC after a brief illness. She was born in Lebanon, NH to the late Raoul & Anita (White) Boutin. She graduated from Sacred Heart School. She worked at MHMH for over 19 years in the linen services and the OR. From there, she worked for Dartmouth College Custodial Services until her retirement in 2002. She continued employment at the Montessori Discovery School in Lebanon until 2017.

She enjoyed vacationing on the coast of Maine with her family and spending time with her brothers fishing. She also enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and friends. In most recent years, she has enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition, she devoted many hours to Sacred Heart Church, assisting in the holiday decorations and restoring various statues of the church including the manger. She was an avid supporter of various animal rescue and shelters organizations, including adopting a rescue dog named Lucy. She also was actively involved in spiritual prayer circles for friends and family who were combating various illnesses, especially cancer.

She is survived by her children, Susan, Kenneth, James, Thomas, and Jean; siblings Robert, Norman, and Elise; and a number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Raoul and Anita and her siblings, Richard, Francois, and Thomas.

A Roman Catholic funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 18 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Parish in Lebanon, NH. Interment will occur in the spring. Flowers can be sent to Ricker's Funeral Home in Lebanon, NH. Charitable donations can be made to Saint Jude's Hospital in Claire's name.
