HONEYCUTT, Daniel "Dan" Edward

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dan Honeycutt, aged 74, on January 15, 2024, at his home in Marietta, GA. Dan was born on November 5, 1949 in Texas City, Texas to Guy and Margaret Honeycutt. He is survived by Ellen Applegath Honeycutt, his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 53 years. Dan and Ellen had a generous and welcoming definition of family, and Dan is survived by many who called him Dad: Sally, Rosi, Mark, Ingrid, Efren; and many more who called him Grampa: Alondra, Jorge, Karla, Emily, Juniper, Luke, Hazel, and Zaahir. Dan provided a stable home and a strong foundation for his own children and those he and Ellen welcomed into the family, transforming lives and leaving a legacy that continues in them. Dan was known for his brilliant mind and passionate dedication to his hobbies. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in to support need-based scholarships at Georgia Tech. RIP Dan Honeycutt, I sadly came across this notice on the Internet

My condolences to Dan´s family, take heart in knowing others found he was a fine, considerate and caring man, he held empathy for others in a professional work environment, which is where I knew him.

I traveled from overseas to Atlanta, GA, USA to live and work, some years ago now and Dan was my boss back then while working for Jordan, Jones and Goulding Inc based in Atlanta, GA.

Dan was quite a unique character and managed with a very laid back style. The sort of boss everyone would like to have, he was neither harsh nor brash but quite the opposite and he was convivial which was always pleasing, always had a smile on his face. I was still settling in to Atlanta, GA, USA having recently arrived from England, UK, it was Thanksgiving weekend and I had no transport sorted out yet, so Dan loaned me his car for the whole Thanksgiving weekend, just so I could get out and about for the holidays... It was my very first time in USA, he didn´t need to do this but he did!

I gained certain traits from Dan particularly in his management style as an Professional Electrical Engineer and still use them to this day decades later with my own practice. He was pleasantly surprised I subsequently passed the USA Professional Engineer Examinations having come from the UK months before after it was he whom challenged me to apply to apply for them!

We would have many a laugh at the differing terminology of respective UK versus USA Engineering systems... It still puts a smile on my face thinking back about those chats.

When I was due to return back home to England, UK, Dan arranged for some work specs and drawings to be given to me to take back to UK because you guys did it all differently and I wanted something tangible to take back to remember `work´ and `how it was done´ over the pond!

It was a pleasure knowing and learning from you Dan .. RIP Buddy.

Ellen, I I know you have a huge hole in your heart and life with Dan's passing. I hope you take comfort in the love of your family and friends. I was fortunate to see the two of you in the early years of your relationship and always admired the way you both expressed your love for each other.
Obviously this love and respect grew over the many years you spent together while raising your children and all those you welcomed into your family. I thought of both of you many times over the years and never took the initiative to pick up the phone. I do remember one evening in Tennessee when we at at a BBQ restaurant that had the spiciest ribs I ever put in my mouth.
