I was a student at Shawnee when Roy was superintendent. He was an excellent educator the old-fashioned caring kind. He will be missed.

Hi to Linda, Mark, and Tuesday from your 1st cousin, Judy (McCormick) Culp. I think I only remember seeing the 3 of you a couple of times in my lifetime -- and I was probably in grade school at the time. I remember your father as being such a nice person when being at the reunions. The last time I saw your father was when my family and I visited him and Helen in Springfield in 1992 -- when me, my mother, and my 2 daughters had supper with them and Uncle Calvin. I am sorry I never got to see any of you in my adult life. My sincerest condolences about your father.

Our memories of Roy did not begin until he married Phyllis. Because we live away from Ohio, we did not see Roy and Phyllis often. But even with limited interactions, we knew he was a standout among men. His demeanor was always humble, kind, and genuine. All who know him are truly blessed and will miss him greatly. Our heartfelt condolences to Phyllis and all his family.

Mark, I remember fondly the basement sleepovers where it got quite rowdy. Your dad would come down and give us what for - rightly so. Sorry for your loss. You dad lived a full life my friend. I'll be thinking of you.

Linda, Mark, and Tuesday, my deepest condolences to you, your stepmother, and all of your families. Roy Schmunk was a truly good person who had the respect of all who worked with him in the Springfield Local School District. I worked in the Board of Education Office, when he served as the Superintendent.

Mark, Tuesday, and Linda: I still remember times from the 60s and 70s that the Schmunk and Cremean families got together, before and after moving to Springfield. Above all I remember your dad and his knidness to and influences on my dad and a few fine conversations I had with Roy at various places after I became an adult. A good long life well lived, Roy´s. I am sorry for your loss.-David Cremean

Every time I saw Mr Schmunk he was always smiling and always made time to talk to the students. And he was a guy who would listen to what you had to say. Springfield was a better place because of Roy.

What a wonderful human being! I will always treasure the time spent with Roy and Phyllis every Thursday at Panache'. Prayers for his family and friends as they deal with their grief. He truly led a Godly life.
