Cartersville, GA - Gui Leslie Dessert, age 75 of Cartersville, GA passed away on February 29, 2024. He is preceded by his parents and younger brother. He is survived by his son and two daughters, five grandchildren, five siblings and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gui was born July 13, 1948 to Maurice Alphonse and Barbara Sherwood (Follansbee) Dessert in Lebanon, NH. He grew up on a dairy farm in Piermont, NH being the second of seven siblings. His family moved back to Lebanon, NH where he graduated in 1966, got married and then drafted into the army in 1968 and did a Vietnam War tour. Upon Honorable discharge he started his own business in general carpentry, mastering every aspect of home construction while getting his BA degree at Nathaniel Hawthorne College. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes. He tagged a top 40 NH Big Game Record Book 10-point whitetail buck in the early 1980's. He moved to Cartersville, GA in 1994. He was a member of the local Moose Lodge Club and American Legion, always enjoying friendly games of horseshoes, darts, or pool, or most any game of cards, particularly at regular family and friend gatherings. During retirement he stayed active by gardening, caring for stray cats, keeping chickens and building bird, dog and well pump houses for sale and for gifting. Parnick Jennings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and visitation will be held on Thursday March 14th at 4 - 6 pm. A memorial celebration will be held later in the year.
