Dan was one of the best people I've ever known. He was funny, silly, generous and quite the jokester. Even after his memory started to fade he could still tell tails about growing up in Virginia, working as a barber, being in the Korean War. He loved watching the flowers come up and was proud about his lawn and garden. He knew he was loosing his memory but he never acted angry about it. It was just part of living. His beautiful wife, Salona, was still there helping him get places, taking care of him and making sure he ate well. It's hard to believe anyone could be married 71 years and never had a cross word between them. She always said they did. I've never seen a couple as devoted to each other as they were. They have been an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others.
