PATRICIA LIZEK

HATFIELD, MA - Patricia Ann Lizek, 85, of Hatfield MA, passed away peacefully at the Elaine Center in Hadley, MA on April 8, 2024. Born in Greenfield MA on December 13, 1938, Patty grew up in the "Patch" of Turners Falls, MA. Having lost her mother Bessie (Kalinowski) soon after childbirth, she was raised by her father Frank Laskoski and beloved aunts Josie and Lilian. Patty met David at a polka dance in Turners, they fell in love and were married on June 6, 1959. Together they raised their four kids in Hatfield, MA.

Family and friends meant everything to Patty. She was loving, thoughtful, heartfelt, genuine and generous. You could always count on her for a card on your birthday and anniversary along with a call on that day. She was a cat-lover who enjoyed ceramics and decorating for all occasions with her creations and crafts making home as festive as possible for the holidays. She headed Cub Scout troops, volunteered for community programs and was a member of the local Book Club. She and David often attended various polka outings and vacationed with family and close friends, from the local shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and Cape Cod to distant trips including Aruba, Hawaii and Brazil. Patty was an avid bowler, fond of card games and dominoes and was a prolific baker; the cookie jar was never empty.

Patty was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Lizek Electric before being employed at Smith College for over 30 years where she rose up the ranks to Physical Plant Supervisor, affectionately known as "Mumsy."

She was a devoted parishioner of our Lady of Grace Church in Hatfield and leaves behind her husband David of nearly 65 years; children Jeff (Maura), Paula, Bob (Angie) and Steve; grandchildren Jason, Ryan, Shaunna, Madison, Adam and Dante; great grandchildren Cassandra, James, and Oliver.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Elaine Center for their attentiveness, patience, kindness, and for always having a banana for Mom. Patty would appreciate donations be made to her favorite charity St. Jude in lieu of flowers. She touched so many and will be dearly missed.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday April 20th, 2024 at 10am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15 School Street Hatfield MA.
