Greenfield, MA - Judith Mae (Phillips) Lively, 85, of Wells St., passed away on Tuesday April 9, 2024.

Judy was born in Greenfield on June 5, 1938 the daughter of Walter and Mildred (Chase) Phillips. While raising her six children and supporting them in their interests and achievements, Judy enrolled in the nursing program at GCC and became an RN at the age of 39. She enjoyed working with the residents of the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility for many years, and for several years moved around the US as a traveling nurse. She also worked in hospice care where her deep love for people and simple trust in God's plan for every life was especially appreciated. Judy was a giving and nurturing soul who wanted the best for all in her care and in every other part of her life.

After acquiring a love of baseball from her Dad, who played Triple-A ball in her childhood, Judy became a loyal lifelong fan of the Red Sox. Her favorite pastime was to curl up in her easy chair to watch a game with a bowl of chips and a soda. She also had a fondness for Siamese cats including her beloved cat-friend Abby who lived with her for many years.

The family she leaves behind include Scott Lively of TN, Sandra Lively of MA, Kristin Clough of ME, Peter Lively of CA, and youngest son Dana Lively of FL, eight grandchildren, sisters Dr. Melinda Gougeon of Ashfield and Suzanne Fish of Greenfield. She also leaves nieces and nephews.

Sadly Judy was predeceased by her daughter Michelle and her brother Walter C. Phillips of WA

A Celebration of Judy's Life will be held at Smith Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls on April 27th from 11am-1pm.
