Fernandina , Chinese dinners at Ben´s, card games into the night, wine...so many great memories through the years. I´m incredibly sad for the loss of this spitfire matriarch. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you, & I´m grateful for the years I got to share her with you.

When I saw Abbie's obituary picture, I recognized her immediately as a dear tennis teammate.
I grew up in Atlanta and when I went through a divorce, I decided to return to my hometown to start a new phase in life. I settled with my two children in Decatur and decided to try ALTA tennis as a way to exercise and make new friends. I joined a team close by at a YWCA on Lawrenceville Highway. Abbie was already a seasoned player on the team. She and the team were so welcoming and helpful as I slowly learned the rules of team tennis. I will never forget my first impressions of Abbie as a beautiful southern lady. She was charming, warm and witty.
The team's schedule took us to all the fancy country clubs around the city. We loved the idea of being from a modest "Y" and winning matches against the upper crust.
I did not remember that Abbie had 5 children! I think you all must treasure your childhood memories of growing up with Abbie as your mom.
