Judith Bresciano Obituary

Judith "Judy" Bresciano

Greenfield, MA - Judith "Judy" Bresciano passed away peacefully at home on Mother's Day, May 12th after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, she was 80 years old. Judy was surrounded by her family and close friends who cared for her so lovingly over the past month.

Judy was born in 1943 to Gerald and Ruth Palmer. She graduated from Greenfield High School, and attended Northampton Commercial College receiving formal training as an Administrative Assistant. She began her administrative work at Deerfield Academy, then working for William "Billy" Burns, and ultimately culminating a 35+ year career with the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) retiring in 2011. Judy became so fond of her colleagues during her tenure with the COG, many who she kept in contact with well into retirement. Judy was proud of her career, her commitment to the people she worked with, and the friendships she made.

Judy valued the relationships she built over her lifetime. She forged so many close bonds with family and childhood friends, maintaining strong meaningful ties to lifelong friends, some who moved from the Greenfield area long ago. Judy was always someone who truly listened to you when you talked, feeling what you said, not just hearing. Her friendships were a testament to who she was as a person, not always perfect, but always trying. Judy loved to "have a visit", which meant a cocktail and many laughs. You never knew when she was going to show up at the doorstep of so many of her friends' houses in the area. She will be forever remembered for her ability to strike up a conversation and get a laugh out of anyone willing to have a chat.

Judy cherished her "college park" family, especially her dear friend and neighbor Lori. She adored being a part of that close community. She loved her table under the tree, which was always open to anyone looking for some company.

Above all else, Judy loved her family unconditionally. She raised three incredible children, and played a huge role in raising all of her grandchildren, whom she adored. There was nothing else in the world that brought a bigger smile to her face than seeing her grandkids. Judy considered herself fortunate to have such a close relationship with her children and grandchildren.

Among her survivors are three children, Tom (Jen) Bresciano, Julie (Dan) Maloney and A.J. (Kathy) Bresciano. Her grandchildren, Emily, Audrey, Nick, Callie, Benson, and Nia. She also leaves behind a brother Jim (Fran) Palmer, niece Tracy Palmer, nephew Jamie Palmer and several cousins. Judy was predeceased by her former husband Louis Bresciano, Jr., parents Gerald and Ruth Palmer, and niece Jody Palmer.

Judy's family is especially grateful for the love, compassion and commitment of her very dear friends, Gail, Gill and Jeanne who were there by Judy's side every moment over the past month. There is nobody else in world that she would have wanted with her during her journey with cancer. Her family is also incredibly thankful for the dedicated nursing team at Cooley Dickinson Hospice and VNA who provided the best care that anyone could ask for.

Judy's life will be celebrated at a memorial service being held at The Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:00am.

At the request of the family, no flowers please. We encourage you to plant a tree in Judy's memory or make a meaningful gift to: Franklin County's YMCA, Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter or Cooley Dickinson Hospice VNA.

So sorry to hear of Judy's passing. She was such a nice woman. I knew her many years ago while raising our families when we were neighbors.
