Such a fine man was Ralph Patrick. I enjoyed and admired his wit and intelligence. It was a pleasure going to church with him for some 40 years. My condolences to Woodie, his daughters and the rest of his family. Ralph was a treasure.

Ralph and I were very close when we were young, despite an almost seven year age difference. Mother always said Ralph thought I hung the moon and I thought he did. He was a mentor of sorts, encouraging me to read and taking me to get my first library card. He was always giving me advice: a lady wouldn´t do this. A lady wouldn´t do that.
Ralph could also be a bit of a scamp when he was younger. When Mother sent us off to Sunday school, Ralph would give be a quarter to not tell that he skipped out on church to hang out in front of the drugstore to hang out with hi friends.
As we grew older and had our own families, and especially after he moved to Georgia, we didn´t see each other very often but I think we still felt a connection. I will always miss him.
