Robert Boatwright Obituary

Robert Edwin "Bobby" Boatwright died May 4, 2024. He was 45 years old. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Michele Brimm, and his father, Alva Edwin "Eddie" Boatwright.

Bobby cultivated many passions over his 45 years. He was a rocker, with Clutch his favorite band. He loved golfing, fishing, reading, playing cards and dominoes, and watching movies, especially Jaws. He had a wry sense of humor and was a gifted writer since middle and high school where he excelled at Wordsmith. He earned a Journalism degree from the University of Memphis, graduating in 2004. He was a part-time author and screenwriter, with one of his proudest accomplishments being researching and editing a history of Collierville. His family hopes to have a screenplay published.

He loved his Memphis Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers. He treasured his feline family that included Chilly and Layla. He excelled in industrial sales with customers asking especially for him. He loved Chinese food and was an outstanding cook.

Friends agree that Bobby was fiercely loyal with a good heart, always lending a helping hand to others. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Bobby is survived by his stepfather, Don Brimm of Germantown, his stepmother, Nancy Jehl Boatwright of Rossville, his stepbrother Darren Brimm and wife Amanda of Memphis, both of whom were devoted to him. In addition, he leaves nephews Earnest Lubiani, IV and Dustin Lubiani, a niece Paige Ison, aunts Sue Rankin (Tony), Lisa Cunningham, Mignon Stetman (Greg), Dara Vandevoir (Bruce), Joyce Boatwright Fay (Charlie), Ruth Boatwright Caldwell (Terry), uncle Victor "Jerry" Vaughan, and cousins Laura Cheston (Cary), Beth Wilson, Ashley Hardin (Ian), Rachel Brouillette (Sam), Chuck Fay (Maria), Dawn Fay (Garrett Ammon), and Jon Caldwell (Bea Metitiri).

His family will celebrate his life on Saturday, June 29, at 6 p.m. at the Farmington Glen Condominium clubhouse in Germantown.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

I worked with Bobby's Father Eddie Boatwright at the City of Germantown. I remember Eddie bringing Bobby up to the lake behind City Hall to fish when he was a boy. Rest in Peace as you are in the loving arms of your Savior and Eddie.
