Susan Twiss Obituary

Susan E. Twiss

Easthampton, MA - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Susan Twiss, who left us on October 23, 2024. She was a shining light in our lives and the heart of our family, whose kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. Susan was born on December 14, 1959, in Northampton, MA, to the late Patricia (Whitman) Shepard and Edward "Shep" Shepard. A proud graduate of Easthampton High School, class of 1977, she dedicated many years of her career to serving her community, first as a Deli Manager for Stop and Shop, and later finding joy in her role at Cumberland Farms, where she delighted regular customers with her outgoing spirit. Throughout her life, Susan created a strong support system within her family. She believed in the importance of being there for one another, teaching us that none of us are ever truly alone. Her strength guided us through life's challenges, while her kindness showed us how easily we could brighten someone's day. Known affectionately as "Momma Sue" and "Grammy Sue" to many of her daughters' and grandkids' friends, she had an open heart and an open home, welcoming everyone with warmth and generosity. Her greatest legacy is her three beautiful daughters, whom she nurtured with unwavering love and support. Susan embodied strength and empathy, and her laughter filled our homes. She taught us the values of compassion and resilience, reminding us that life's challenges are opportunities for growth. Her spirit of inclusivity and boundless care left a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. As we remember Susan today, we celebrate the countless memories shared: family gatherings filled with joy, quiet moments spent together, and her ability to uplift everyone around her. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever resonate in our hearts. Susan was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Shepard. She is survived by her father, Edward Shepard; her devoted husband, Grover Twiss; her brother, Scott Shepard; and her three cherished daughters, Corey Redfern, Brittany Redfern, and Amanda Redfern, along with their partners, Brian Pease, Jason Biladeau, and Aaron Palmer; her two stepchildren, Daniel Twiss and his wife Stephanie and Katelyn Twiss. Susan was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jordan, Jaydin, Ava, Hannah, Cameron, Colin, Lukas, Noah and Trenton each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, countless friends and her 2 dogs, Harley and Kyra, who miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 3rd from 2pm-5pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street. A mass will be held on Monday, November 4th at 10am at Our Lady of the Valley followed by a reception at Northampton Country Club. We invite all who knew her to join us in honoring her beautiful life and the indelible mark she left on us all.

Dear Grover and family,
I am heart broken for you all, Sue was a beautiful, caring and selfless lady.
I worked with her in the Northampton store many years ago and remember her perpetual smile and caring heart. She was truly a shining star, the world has lost one of the best.
There are no words to ease your grief, but know that your friends share your sorrow at this time. Although Sue is no longer here in the physical plain, she is with you in your hearts. She will send you signs, be open to them.
Keep the many happy memories with you, in time you will be comforted.
May God give you peace.

Corey and Brittany, thinking of you. Your old third grade teacher. Hope you are doing well. Corey, you have a special memory in my teaching career. I sat on a desk and it collapsed! Dead silence in the class and then you piped up - "I thought I was seeing things." You also contributed to my hate of Calipari when you told me things he yelled at his players. Kinda tricky as my son in law from KY and big fan. Be well
