Charlotte Battisti Obituary
Amherst, MA - Charlotte Florine Battisti, 91, of Leverett, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024 surrounded by loving family. She was born on May 7,1933 in West Eaton, NY to Sterling and Leah Tayntor. Charlotte was known for her kindness and love, her smile and support of her family and friends. Everyone who met Charlotte loved her. She was a caring wife, mother and doting grandmother to her many children and grandchildren. Charlotte further expressed her love of children as both a piano and religious education teacher in Medfield, Massachusetts. In her later years, Charlotte enjoyed working and volunteering in both the Medfield and Leverett libraries. Charlotte was a devout member of St. Edwards Church in Medfield, MA and Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in South Deerfield, MA,
Charlotte met the love of her life and husband Frank Battisti in 1953 at Ithaca College where they both studied music. They were married in 1955 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Munnsville, NY. Charlotte and Frank traveled to many countries around the world where he conducted concerts and taught music.
Preceding Charlotte in joining the Lord were her mother and father, Leah and Sterling Tayntor, brother Phillip Tayntor and sister Marylou (Tayntor) Day. She is remembered by her husband Frank, her faithful caretaker and friend Cecile St. Louis, and her children: David Battisti (wife Lynn McMurdie), Laurie Ann Smith (husband Greg), Michael Battisti (wife Stephanie), Stephen Battisti (wife Amy), Christopher Battisti (wife Denise Taylor), Thomas Battisti (wife Katie), Jonathan Battisti (wife Anna Farrell), and Peter Battisti (wife Rachel Salit); grandchildren: Eric, Adrian, Nathaniel, Gemma, Max, Emily, Melanie, Matthew, Andrew, Zachary, Samuel, Madeline, Nicole, Allison, Sarina, Kayla, Jason, Lilli, Amelia, and Naomi; great-grandchildren: Elijah, Caleb, Charlotte, Tama, Go, Remy, Owen, Theo and Evelyn Rose.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlotte's memory to: The Friends of the Leverett Library, PO Box 250, Leverett, MA 01054.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Wrisley Funeral Home, South Deerfield, MA.
A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church at 9:30 am Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Charlotte's final resting place will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Baron Avenue, South Deerfield, MA.

Dear Mr. B and family - I am so saddened to learn of Mrs. B´s passing and express my deepest sympathy and love to you all. My family was United with Charlotte and Frank many years ago in Ithaca. My father and Frank were HS partners in crime. In 2008 my oldest daughter started her college years in UMass Amherst, studying Music of all things! We have now been Blessed with their love since then! We continue to connect and visit Amherst. We are always bonded with the Battisti family! Our hearts are broken to lose this wonderful woman , but her memory will live in our Hearts!
