Michael Dube Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Britton-Wallace Funeral Home - Auburn on Feb. 21, 2026.
Michael H. "Mike" Dube, 91, of The Meadows of Leicester, former longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of almost 46 years, Cynthia MacMillan Dube; his children: Kyle Dube and his wife Darlene, of Shirley, Todd Dube and his wife Donna, of Auburn, Jennifer Bohn and her husband Randy, of Auburn, Sue Folsom and her husband Russell, of North Oxford, and Amy (Kaczyk) Sullivan and her partner Jim, of Plymouth; fourteen grandchildren: Kyla O'Neill, Ryan Dube, Jaqui Black, Toni Dube, Jocie Blenkhorn, Teagan Folsom, Michael Dube, Kasey Mullin, Joseph Lemke, Rachel Ayala, Sydney Agnini, Abigail Sullivan, Emma Sullivan, and Hannah Sullivan; fourteen great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Shirley MacMillan-Hill and her husband Steve "Sam," of Auburn; his former wife and good friend, Judy Murphy, of Auburn; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mike was predeceased by his best friend of 75 years, Ralph Whelihan, in 2023.

Mike was born and raised in Holyoke, only child of the late Ferdinand and Marguerite (Gauthier) Dube. He graduated from South Hadley High School, Class of 1952, then attended the Wilbraham Academy for a year. Mike fulfilled his lifelong dream and attended UMass for several years before transferring to Worcester State College (now University) to attain his Bachelor's degree in Art History.

Mike served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves, and spent the majority of his early career working for All State Insurance Company. Most notably, he was one of four founding partners of Northeast Insurance, of which he co-owned, where he worked as a broker for many years.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and cards, landscaping and tending to his yard, and in his later years, took up walking and running – he ran the Boston Marathon and the Newport Marathon! Mike loved rooting for the New England teams, especially the Patriots.

Mike was quite a character, and could always be counted on for a quick-witted response. His family will fondly remember the many laughs, experiences, and adventures he provided them – he loved to travel, and was strict about sticking to his itinerary and schedule. He put meticulous research into every trip, no matter how long or short, and always studied the map ahead of time.

Mike's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the staff of The Meadows of Leicester, who lovingly cared for him during his two-year stay. Despite his own health struggles, Mike remained a source of positivity, smiles, and humor for the staff and fellow residents. He was truly a joy to have around!

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 25 Shawmut Road, Canton, MA 02021 (https://worcesterarc.salvationarmy.org/worcesterarc/ways-to-give).
