Kathleen Curry Obituary

Kathleen F. (Lee) Curry

Concord, NH - Kathleen F. (Lee) Curry, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Born in Somerville, MA, on December 23, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of Rodger and Katherine Lee of County Cork, Ireland. Kathleen grew up in Somerville, MA, and married the late James J. Curry Jr., moving to Concord, NH, where she raised her five children in the South End. Affectionately known as "Kak" by her husband "Jimmy," Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother. She built a vibrant life in the family-oriented community of Concord, where she formed many close friendships. Kathleen was a loyal supporter at the ice rink, ball fields, and football and field hockey events her children participated in. A loving homemaker, Kathleen cherished her role as a mother. She would have lunch in person with her children during school days when they could walk home from Conant School through the neighborhood yards. Dinner was always at 5:00 PM sharp, and if anyone was late, it would be waiting, warmed in the oven. Kathleen had a lifelong passion for bingo, playing every Friday night at the Moose Hall. Her love for the game continued well into her later years, accompanied by what many called "the luck of the Irish." Her best friend in life was her younger sister, Virginia Sutherland, of Stoneham, MA. Despite being six years apart, they shared an extraordinary bond, often described as being like twins. Kathleen also had a younger Brother Rodger who passed away as a very young child. Kathleen is survived by her children and their families: Michael Curry of Denton, TX: Daughter Yardley (husband Jeff and children Baron and Godiva), daughter Taylor (husband Kevin and twins Roman and Henry), Daughter Sloane (husband Steven); Son Jamison Redding (wife Bonnie and Children Wyatt and Jami) Kevin Curry of Woodstock, GA: Wife Joanne; Son Griffin (Wife Carly) and Son Colin (Wife Bailey) Mary Ashley of Sudbury, MA: Husband Daryl, son Keegan (wife Courtney and daughters Delaney and Maeve), son Kyle (wife Abby), and daughter Brigid. Ann Landry of Stratham, NH: Husband Chuck and daughters Ellie and Brooke. Kathleen was predeceased by her son Tim Curry of Portland, ME, who is survived by daughters Caitlin and Deirdre. Kathleen is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and extended family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at St. Peter's Church, 100 Concord Avenue, Cambridge, MA, on Saturday morning, November 23, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Arrangements entrusted to the care of The Brown & Hickey Funeral Home in Belmont, MA. Mike, Kevin, and the Curry Family - So sorry to read about your Mom. And at the same time reflecting on such great memories in the neighborhood growing up (including walking with you cutting through the neighborhood yards to get to Conant School), at the ball fields and at the hockey rinks. She was always so supportive, and welcoming when we were kids at the house including for meals, playing sports in the yard, and just having fun (not to mention her patience from time to time when we had a little to much fun, as she would say). And always a great sense of humor.Thinking of your all. And sending my condolences, as well as thanks to you Mom for the great memories.
