Graham Fulton Obituary

Native Memphian, Graham Fulton, a larger-than-life character known variously as Graham-O, Grahambini, The Big Guy, The Jolly Tyrant, The Wrath, G.G., Dad, Grumpy and Big Tati died peacefully on November 23rd at age 85.

His parents Dudley Fulton, an artist, and Jack Fulton, a cotton broker raised an athlete and a fighter. He attended many schools including Pentecost Garrison and East High School in Memphis, Le Rosey in Switzerland, and St. Marks Academy in Massachusetts. He then attended Washington & Lee University, a school he adored, where he was a varsity wrestler and anchored the offensive line of the noted 1961 undefeated W&L football team.

After graduating from college, he found himself in the U.S. Army serving as a proud member of the 82nd Airborne division. He earned commendation for his work in the top-secret G-3 planning section during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

While still in the army, he was the best man at his best friend's wedding in Annapolis. There, love-at- first-sight struck true and fast, leading to a 62-year marriage to Lynn Bowers of Columbus, Georgia.

After his army service he went to work at Morgan Keegan & Co. where he retired as a managing director.

His proudest accomplishment was raising and educating his two "Fine Sons," Chris and John. He believed in a good education and good discipline.

Graham loved skiing! He skied fast and relentlessly until his 80th year.

He made a powerful impression on people. His charming smile, generosity and easy laugh left a trail of friends everywhere he went.

Graham Fulton fought bravely and without complaint through injuries, strokes, and dementia providing to those who knew and loved him a guiding example of courage and dignity until the very end of his days.

He is predeceased by his parents, his sister Gregory Fulton Taylor, her sons Bruce and Hewitt, and his half-brothers Jack Fulton Jr. and Bruce Fulton.

He is survived by his wife Lynn, sons Chris (Alexandra) and John (Jennifer) and his four grandchildren Jack, Kate, Christopher and Elizabeth.

The family would like to offer its deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to all of Graham's caregivers, especially the amazing and caring staff at Opus and the team from Hope Hospice.

On Wednesday December 4th, a visitation at 10 am and the service at 11 will take place at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3245 Central Ave. Memphis, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome memorials to St. John's Episcopal Church, Warhorses for Heroes, 13600 Looney Rd., Olive Branch MS. 38654 or the charity of your choice.

My Dearest Lynn,
Graham and Felipe were the "Two Amigos" while at Opus. It is impossible to forget their brotherly relationship: sharing grapes at "Happy Hour", bananas when available, Gummy Bears, and any chocolate dessert. Felipe, loved sharing and Graham was always a gracious receiver with a smile that lit up the room and a laugh that reached inside you and warmed your heart. It know their friendship will continue in Heaven where there will be pure joy and peace. Your fidelity and love, Lynn, will be rewarded. God love you and the angels be your guide moving forward. Lovingly, Monica

Mr Graham had the most infectious smile! He fought bravely to the end. No matter what there were 2 things that were constant, his smile and his love for Mrs Lynn. He was loved at Opus. He will truly be missed.

To Mrs. Lynn Fulton,

You are truly a warrior. I always adored and admired the genuine warmth, strong energy, and composure you carried yourself with. You immediately captivate a room and that is a beautiful quality. In my short time knowing you and Mr. Graham, I grew to care very much for both of you. Graham was always quite charming, kind, and funny - even as his disease progressed. I admired him for that. Carrying so much dignity, even in such a state of mental struggle and distress, is a true statement to his character and discipline as a person. I am so sorry the loss and heartache, for you, and for everyone else who loved him. You will be in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season. I wish you much love and many blessings.

Sincerely,

Abby Purdom
