Dorothy Graham Obituary

Dorothy Winston Graham (Dotsie) passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024 after a 10-month battle with cancer.

Dotsie was born in Dallas, Texas and moved to Memphis at a very early age. She was a proud Central High Warrior in the class of 1969. Upon graduation, Dotsie attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She completed her education at the University of Alabama.

Dotsie taught school in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa for several years before returning to Memphis where she attended Memphis State and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling. Upon graduation, Dotsie worked for Charter Behavioral Health Systems first in Memphis then Plano, Texas, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Salt Lake City, Utah. At the age of 40, Dotsie returned to Memphis to continue her healthcare career with Methodist. During her 11 years at Methodist her roles included leadership for inpatient psychiatric services, and the alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility serving both inpatient and outpatients. She ended her career as Vice President of Behavioral Health. Dotsie enjoyed her retirement spending her time in Orange Beach, Alabama and traveling with friends and family. She was most proud of her 43-year recovery from addiction and supporting many young women through their own recovery.

Dotsie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first and her family second. She is survived by her sister, Pat Graham Stevens (Mike), her brother, Jim Graham (Cathy), and her stepson Haskins Glass. She is also survived by her five nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, Ginger Graham Smith (Randy), Bo Graham (Leslie), Michael Stevens (Brooke), Graham Stevens Fairly (Graham) and Dotsie Stevens, five great nieces and two great nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Jimmie Graham and her mother Dottie Graham. Dotsie is also survived by her loving partner Maurice Elliott.

For their dedication and treatment, her family would like to thank her team of doctors Dr. Kaleb Page from Walnut Grove Dental Group, and Dr. Steve Weir from Compton and Weir Periodontics. From the West Clinic Dr. Courtney Shires, Dr. Yuefeng Wang, Dr. Gary Tian, Dr. Clay Jackson, and Dr. Tricia Harris.

A visitation will be held at Second Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 4th at 1:00 P.M. in the Salmon Room with a service at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel. The church is located at 4055 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Please park in the West Parking Lot.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Methodist Hospice Residences, Second Presbyterian Church- Caring Ministries Fund, or the charity of your choice.
