John Miller Obituary

John R. Miller

Tolland, CT - John died unexpectedly at home on November 30th 2024. He was born at Cooley Dickinson Hospital on April 23rd 1959 to Roland H. Miller and Mary Jane (Curtis) Miller. He grew up in Chesterfield, attended Davenport, Smith Vocational High School and then SUNY Delhi, NY. He had a passion for Jersey cows and worked with them from age 12 with his local 4H until his passing. John was a consummate example of animal husbandry and throughout his life always found the positive hope for each new day. He leaves his children James (Jessica) of Colrain, David (Dorothy) of Putnam CT, Kate (Jose) of Tolland CT, his brother Bill of Chesterfield, his sister Rebecca Andrews of Charlemont and grandchildren, Lydia, Chris, Henry, Eleanor and Marcus as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife, Sharen Roberts, and his parents Roland of Brooksville, FL and Mary Jane of Williamsburg. A celebration of life will be held in the spring 2025 along with a full obituary forthcoming. His funeral will be held at the Chesterfield Congregational Church in Chesterfield MA on Saturday December 14th at 11:00AM. Burial will be at Bofat Cemetery in the spring 2025. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Chesterfield (PO Box 56, Chesterfield MA 01012); Bofat Cemetery Association (PO Box 15, Chesterfield MA, 01012) ,or Smith Vocational High School Agricultural Department (80 Locust Street, Northampton MA 01060)

My condolences to Kate, Mary Jane, and family of John Miller. For the short time that I knew John, he was very kind and caring. He knew a lot about his animals and took great care of them. He also was a great gardener and enjoyed fresh cut roses and growing his cherry tomatoes.
