David O. Rhoad

Windsor, VT - David O. Rhoad, 86, a lifetime resident of Windsor, VT, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH. David was a smart, thoughtful man. He was always ready to share his knowledge and offer a bit of wisdom along with it. In his later years, David especially liked gathering with family and friends to share conversation in his backyard, ever present and always ready with a hug.

David was born May 12,1938 the son of Dr. Owen W. and Evelyn (Barris) Rhoad. He received his schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1956. He then attended Dartmouth College and UVM. He married Barbara L. Greene, on September 3,1960 in Windsor, VT. Shortly after starting their family, they moved to their lifelong home at 32 Elm Street on "The Terrace" where many neighborhood memories were made. David had a long career as a carpenter for Eastman and Son where he was committed to his craft and was always willing to lend his expertise to help friends and his community.

David served on the boards of Mt. Ascutney Hospital, Windsor Public Library and Old South Church Prudential Committee. He spent weekends at Mt. Ascutney Ski Area as a member of the ski patrol where he shared his love of skiing with his family.

David is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers; Robert R. Rhoad, Thomas G. Rhoad and sister, Eleanore "Boots" Teach.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Barbara Rhoad, five daughters; Jennifer DiGrigoli (Robert), Leslie White (Ted), Molly Rhoad (Jim Bertrand), Gretchen Vesper (Donald), Stephanie Murray (Ed); one son, Andrew Rhoad (Bobbi); sister, Wendy Rhoad, and sister-in-law Anne Rhoad; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
