Wayne D. Davis, 79 died on January 2, 2026 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 30, 1946 in Windsor, Vermont the son of Ralph N. and Esther A. (Ellis) Davis. He attended Windsor schools, graduating from Windsor High School in 1964. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and achieved Eagle Scout in 1961. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967 aboard the USS Bordelon DD 881.

On August 8, 1970, Wayne married Sandra Rumrill and they settled down in Springfield, Vermont where they raised their two children Nicky and Jeremy.

Wayne was employed as an Electrical Engineer for much of his life, working at Vermont Research Corp. and Bryant Grinder for close to 20 years each. After he retired from the machine shops, Wayne always kept busy with various jobs which included the U.S. Postal Service, Hancor, Ellsworth, and the State Parks, until 2009. Wayne continued working right up until his passing doing piece work for Whelen Engineering for the last 16 years.

Wayne's real passion was being involved in scouts and sports with his children and grandchildren. He served as a Cubmaster, a Scout Master and coach of various youth sports throughout his lifetime.

He was also an avid John Wayne fan and a lifetime member of the NRA. He also loved the outdoors, especially gardening, hiking, and traveling to new places.

He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Esther, brothers Walt and Dan, sisters Virginia, Polly and Carrie, grandson Noah, wife Sandra and companion of last 20 years, Judy Lasell.

He is survived by his children Nicole and Jeremy (Kathy), his stepchildren, Scott (Lollie), Chris (Alex), and Sarah (Christian), his grandchildren, Dylan, Amber, Hailey, and Bethany, his great grandchildren Braylon and A.J., and also by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Saturday January 17, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the Spring of 2026.

Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital in White River Jct, VT or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the VA Hospital and the Jack Byrne Center for the great care they provided to Wayne over the years.
