I worked for Mr. Markwell as a groundskeeper when I was a student. He was always nice but honest about when I was doing something stupid. I was always happy to see him, he was kind, funny and an all around stand up guy.

John was my one and only BIG brother. I have waited to write on here as I have been having a difficult time excepting, he is really gone. I moved away may years ago to another state, but we talked several times a week on the phone. I have many memories that I cherish more now than ever. I loved you dearly and you are missed every day. I love this picture of you from my wedding, we never aged, always young.

I worked with John for almost 19 years @ GCC. The 1st couple of years on the Grounds crew, we had a lot of fun mowing lawns, plowing and shoveling snow! Putting in a new sidewalk, building the school sign, clearing trees and brush to put the road in behind the College! We had a great Crew! Tim, Al & Joe .. I was his night Supervisor for the Maintainers for many years!! John was very involved in projects at the college and took great pride in keeping the Campus looking great! Inside and out!! It was a great pleasure to work with him all those years and to also to know Marty and Jason! I am glad I had a chance to visit and catch up with him recently!! Rest in peace John!!

John took care of GCC´s buildings and grounds with great respect and pride. Students, faculty and staff benefited from his dedication every day. Rest in peace John.
