Adam E. Bielunis

N. Hatfield, MA - Surrounded by his family, Adam E. Bielunis, 97, of N. Hatfield, passed away on Saturday February 1, 2025, spending less than a month at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility. He was born on April 24, 1927, in North Amherst to the late John and Ursula (Beuskas) Bielunis who immigrated from Lithuania in 1909 with their first son John and settled in North Amherst.

Adam attended Amherst schools and worked in construction for many years.

In May of 1952 he married Constance Thibault, daughter of Stasia (Kosakowski) and Antonio Thibault of Easthampton.

In August 1952, Adam was drafted and served in the US Army until discharged in August 1954. He was stationed in Japan most of his two years of service. Upon discharge he purchased a home in North Hatfield and began to learn the trade of custom meat cutting from John Szala in North Amherst. At age 60 Adam retired from Szala's and started his own successful meat cutting business. He enjoyed his local customers as well as those from neighboring states, retiring at the age of 81.

Adam was a man of faith and belonged to the Holy Trinity Church and later to Our Lady of Grace Church, both in Hatfield. He was also a member of the Hatfield Fire Department and the Hatfield American Legion Post 344.

He is survived by his loving wife Constance of 72 years, his son Alan and his wife Pam of Richmond NH, his daughters, Judy Dunn and her husband Bob of Goshen, Diane Talanca of Newton Falls, OH, and Karen Pedruczny of Hatfield. Adam leaves 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren from Maine to Colorado. He also leaves a multitude of nieces and nephews and their families.

Besides his parents, Adam was predeceased by his son Paul in 2021, his grandson, Adam Bielunis in 1984, son-in-law Peter Talanca in 2021, and his son-in-law Leon Pedruczny Jr. in 2024, his brothers, John, Alex, Frank, Walter, Joseph, and his sisters Mary, Anna, and Alice.

He will be remembered for his love of his family, his love of his town of Hatfield, and the love of the wonderful times spent on Polka weekends from Wildwood, NJ to Poland Springs, Maine. A special thanks to Eddie Forman Orchestra for many good times.

Calling Hours will be from 10 AM – 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hatfield at 12 PM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Bradstreet Cemetery.
