Nell Levy Obituary
She was preceded in death by her brother James C. Rainer III, her sister Gwyn Rainer Foote, and her beloved husband of 36 years, Herbert R. Levy, with whom she travelled the world to all seven continents before they were done. She is survived by her stepson Robert Levy (Pam), her stepdaughter Diane Levy, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and their children.
She was a proud patron of the arts in Memphis including Dixon Galleries, Brooks Museum of Art, Arts Memphis, and Opera Memphis. Nell was also known for her strong support of local charities.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church Health Center or the charity of the donor's choice.

I am so saddened by this news of Nell's death. She was a dear friend since our college days, including our time together at Southwestern and the then vibrant "social life" of Memphis. She had a brilliant mind, and was always curious of new things and new ideas. She and Lila Wrape, her dearest now departed friend, together were a wonderful sight to behold...fun, smart, and always responsible and concerned for others who did not share their many advantages. We were in contact until just recent months. I will dearly miss knowing that Nellie is just a phone call away....Lewis Murray in Rome, Italy
