Melinda Moore Thurman Simpson Obituary

Melinda Moore Thurman Simpson, 65, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2025, with her husband by her side. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Mimi," and lovingly called "Misi" by her grandchildren, Melinda brought warmth, laughter, and steadfast love to everyone she met. A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Melinda is survived by her devoted husband, William H. Simpson Jr.; her daughter, Savannah (Brad) Burton; her son, William H. Simpson III (Anaïs); and her four cherished grandchildren: Ethan Burton, Brooks Burton, Rose Simpson, and Violette Simpson. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Barbara (Sam) Presley and Stephanie (Keith) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. Thurman Jr. and Dorothy H. Thurman; her sister, Susan C. Hirsch; and her brother, Joseph M. Thurman III. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Humane Society of Memphis.
