Carolyn Burnett Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Jeanette Burnett was born to Mollie Faye & Leslie W. Baker Sr. in Memphis, TN on January 20, 1959. Her early years of being raised by Godly parents were the beginning of a life of service to the Kingdom of God.
Carolyn worked a few jobs over her young adult years of life, such as a short stint at Arthur Fulmer Factory, Dental Hygienist for Dr. Parr, and Assisting a Vacuum Salesperson. But her true calling was in the ministry for the Lord.
She married William Burnett, "Junior". in 1979 and together they had 2 children. Together, Junior & Carolyn traveled locally, singing Gospel music in local churches. They even published a CD of their music. Carolyn was also gifted with the ability to write songs of praise and worship that God gave her. She has 20 or more songs in her collection.
Mrs. Burnett was a dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church in Byhalia, MS, for many years. During her time there, she served as the church secretary for 31 years and led song service with her mom for many years. She cleaned the church, participated in outreach, cooked for various functions and ministry teams, and even visited the sick and shut ins.
Sis. Carolyn, as she was known to her church family, was the sweetest, kindest, most gentle soul you would ever meet. She greeted every person that came into the church or her home with a beautiful smile and a hug. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was surely one of God's Chosen!
Sis. Carolyn was a woman of PRAYER! She believed in the power and anointing of prayer, always praying for others more than herself. She always kept a list of people that needed prayer and would pray over it often. She often blessed others with a word of encouragement or prayer from the Lord, even while suffering silently with her own battles.
Carolyn Jeanette Burnett leaves to cherish her legacy, her loving husband, William "Junior" Burnett, two sons, Phillip (Denise) & Michael Burnett, of Red Banks, MS; two brothers, Kenneth & Leonard Baker, of Red Banks, MS; 3 grandchildren, Gabriel & Christian Burnett, of Byhalia, MS and Mikenzie Taylor of Southaven, MS.
She was preceded in death by parents, Mollie Faye Baker & Leslie Baker Sr., one brother, Leslie Baker Jr.: stepson Christopher Taylor, & granddaughter Tori Taylor.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 24th from 5-8pm at Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be Friday, July 25th at 11am at Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill South Cemetery.
