Leonard Jackson Obituary

Leonard Laroy Jackson was born on March 3, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Warren K. and Mattie B. Jackson. He grew up in a close-knit, loving family and spent most of his life in Memphis. Leonard started school at Ford Road Elementary and graduated from Mitchell High School. He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for a year, then went on to earn an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from State Technical School in Memphis. He also trained in heating and air conditioning at William R. Moore. Along the way, he picked up a lot of hands-on skills from his father. Over the years, Leonard worked a variety of jobs, including lifeguarding at Fuller State Park and stints at International Harvester and Kroger Bakery. He had a creative side and enjoyed swimming, diving, reading, and writing poems and songs. Leonard is survived by his brother, Ronald Jackson Sr.; his nieces, Robyn Britton and Rachelle Taylor; his nephew, Ronald Jackson Jr.; and his grand-niece and grand-nephew, Raelyn and Myron Taylor Jr. He leaves behind a host of cousins and friends, including his longtime friend Dr. Regina Bryant.
