Luc Bodin
Wendell, MA - Luc Bodin, 80, of Wendell, MA, passed away on July 23, 2025, from pneumonia which was brought on by neurologic changes due to Alzheimer's Disease.
Luc was born Eugene Marie Auguste Jean Bodin on April 15, 1945, in les Sables d'Olonne, France. He was the beloved eldest son of Jeanne Grit Bodin and Eugene Bodin.
Luc grew up in the town of Cholet, France, and lived with his extended family above the family's beauty salon and barber shop.
Trained as a hairstylist, Luc was the fourth generation of his family's practice of the craft. He emigrated to the United States in 1968 and began his career as a professional hair stylist. He owned and operated Luc d'France hair salon on Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay.
Luc sailed on the Charles River, watched the fireworks from the Bandshell on the fourth of July, and shopped at Haymarket in the north end for his fresh vegetables, pasta and cheese.
Luc was passionate about gardening and grew an abundance of vegetables and flowers. He loved dancing, music and the visual arts. He found great joy in being part of the contra dance community and danced for many years at The Guiding Star Grange in Greenfield, MA.
Luc was generous, upbeat, and lived with great intensity. In his words: "I take big bites out of life." Possessing a great appetite for life and travel, Luc was always up for a new adventure, a new lake in which to kayak, a new trail to hike, an unusual plant to incorporate into his ever-growing garden, new cuisine to experience, and so much more. He loved spectacle, festivals of all kinds and excelled at stilt-walking.
Luc is survived by his brothers Jean Louis Bodin and Frederic Bodin and is predeceased by his younger brother, Pierre Bodin. He leaves behind four wonderful children and grandchildren whom he dearly loved, including his sons, Sebastien Rapold and Joachim Weyl, and his daughters, Laura Bodin-Weyl and April Bond. He also leaves behind his son-in-law, Dan Yeager, his daughter-in-law, Laura Quayle, and his three grandchildren; Athena, Karina and Evan.
Luc also leaves behind Nina Weyl, the mother of Joachim and Laura; and Trudy Smith, his care partner.
Luc leaves behind the Wendell community he loved so well, and the many friends who came to know him and share in his adventures. He and the creative energy he brought to life will be greatly missed.
