Scott Fritz Obituary

Scott A. Fritz

Erving, MA - Scott A. Fritz of Central St. passed away Tuesday July 22, 2025. He was born in Montague on November 7, 1964, the son of William and Elizabeth (Merriott) Fritz. Scott attended local schools and graduated from Turners Falls High School Class of 1982.

He was a Navy Corpsman and always wanted to further his medical career. He was honorably discharged obtaining the Rank of HM3. Scott was extremely proud of being a veteran and often spoke about his days in the service. He was a technician for NSM in Chicopee, MA. He was proud of and excelled at being able to help customers with mobility difficulties and be able to move around in their lives as comfortably and free as possible. Previously he worked at Esleek Paper for many years.

Scott enjoyed playing and collecting many different guitars. He played in local bands in his younger years. Later in life he was most happy just sitting on the porch and picking on a guitar with anyone who wanted to join him. Enjoying many types of music, his favorite being southern and classic rock. He could tell you within the first two or three notes, often even just the first, the name of the song, the band and who was singing.

He was a diehard fan of Michigan Wolverines Football and even had a few friendly rivalries while watching them throughout their season each year. He loved everything history related and would watch the History Channel for hours and liked to talk and teach about it.

Scott loved to ride dirt bikes, he loved fishing and hunting and was happiest just being out in the woods. Fall was his favorite season. He liked the sound of walking through the crisp fallen leaves and taught us that if you stand very still and just listen, snow actually does make a noise when falling.

On the weekends he enjoyed barbecuing and grilling all sorts of things on his backyard smoker, He was a great cook with the ability to add flavor to any meal without measuring a thing. He was adamant about using proper utensils and would groan when he saw his wife using a paring knife to carve a roast or a teaspoon to serve with.

He was the youngest of 6 and as children they would do wipeouts in the driveway with their big wheels and run their bikes over jumps. When he grew up, he loved doing those same things with his own children, nieces and nephews. He loved his family and was forever clowning around.

He leaves behind a large family; his wife of 27 years, the former Kathryn French, his children; Timothy Fritz of Erving, Adam Fritz of Littlestown, PA, Levi Fritz of Rochester, MN, Madison Fritz of Erving along with his grandchildren; Eleanor, Lucian, Gabriel, Vince, Greyson and Dawson. Scott also leaves his siblings; Derek Fritz (Debbie) and Andrea Burt all of Erving, Wendy Fritz (Roberto) of Florida, Lance Fritz (Kathy) of Leyden and William Fritz (Wendy) of Fleming Island, FL. He also leaves his mother in-law Patricia French of Greenfield, brother in-laws, David French (Tammy) and Paul French (Kim) plus 8 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life, with military honors will be held at his brother Lance's house, 228 East Hill Rd. Leyden, MA on Sunday August 10th from 1:00-3:00 PM. Food, water and soda will be provided. Feel free to bring your own beverages and a lawn chair.

Scott was the technician that came to work on my power wheelchair. He was the one and only person from NSM that I will never forget, as he was exceptional in what he did and all he told us about my wheelchair. He was totally dedicated to his profession and to teaching me, a disabled senior citizen more in that one visit than I knew about my chair since receiving it. I called his supervisor and gave Scott an excellent review because of that one experience. Condolences to his family.
