Robert Vey Obituary

Robert Vey

Northampton, MA - Robert Vey passed on July 18th, 2025, a few days after his 85th birthday Robert was born in 1940 to August and Matilda Vey in Port Chester, New York. He grew up in a favored part of American history, when the country was filled with pride, integrity and productivity. Qualities that he embraced and admired.

He married Susan Willett and started a family in his early 20's. She was the love of his life and they had three beautiful children together. After college at Stanford, Robert chose a career in heavy equipment sales and design, where he was well known for helping his clients to solve problems and increase performance, in the field. Robert had a generous and inclusive nature and formed easy friendships wherever he went. His sense of humor, always ready to lighten the mood and quick to remind people his name was Bob...with one "o".

He loved sports, living near the ocean and had a great fondness for nature. He loved cooking, especially for family and friends. In his youth, he loved escaping to explore the Catskills, whenever he could. Camping and trout fishing with friends were some of his favorite memories. He is missed by many and survived by his three children and three grandchildren.

I drove Bob to the grocery store when I worked for the Northampton MA senior center van ride service. I looked forward to having conversations about his past travels and tell him about mine. He was a very interesting person.

I met him at my place of work and he was always so nice and I enjoyed helping him find anything on the shelves. He always had a positive attitude and I enjoyed his presence. I was just thinking about him recently, and now I know he´s in a safer place. Best of luck to his family
