Terry Grigsby Obituary

Terry Falco Grigsby

Lebanon, NH - It is with great sadness, but also with a sense of relief that our mother, Terry Grigsby died on August 11, 2025, at the age of 79. She went out fighting like hell. She was in her 13th year of treatment for high-risk Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, when in January 2025 she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Cancer. This is a very aggressive brain cancer and is always fatal. Her brother, Anthony Falco, battled this same cancer with surgery and radiation and lived for only 9 months. Our mother, with our blessing, opted for only comfort care, and when the end was near, she took advantage of Vermont's Medical Aid In Dying (MAID).

She loved teaching, beginning with third grade in Hudson, NY, then in Lebanon, NH for 23 years as a reading specialist. She delighted that she was still in contact with some of her students on Facebook. She referred to them as "my kids." She was a member of the Lebanon City Council from 1999-2005, volunteered at Listen and the Red Cross, and knitted loads of scarfs for the residents at the Haven.

But her greatest joys and titles were "Mom" and "Gigi." She and her late husband, Alan Grigsby, loved giving their sons and grandchildren some wonderful experiences: dancing in the summer rain, visiting Alcatraz prison, tubing down the Hudson River, checking out the wildlife in the Florida Everglades, parasailing, cruising, and snorkeling in Bermuda. The family enjoyed some of the crazy games she made up when the family gathered at Christmas. Serious competition galore!

She leaves her sons Greg (his wife Margy) and Casey (his wife Amanda), her 6 grandchildren Claire Grigsby, Elye Rose Ashline, Jack Grigsby, Sam Grigsby, Justin DeCarlo and Paige Torres. Also, her former daughter's-in-law Tracy Mayer and Erin Crowley. She also leaves her sister-in-law Jean Falco, and her nieces Lisa (daughter Allegra), Laurie, and her nephew, Tony (son Sal). Lastly, but certainly not to be forgotten, she leaves her "Besties" to carry on the "therapy sessions."

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to where Casey and Sam both had life-saving open heart surgeries:

My wife and I met Terry and Al at Boston Children´s Hospital in the mid-1970´s. Both of our young sons had heart defects that required major surgery. As parents we bonded immediately and insisted that all subsequent hospital visits be coordinated together.

That bond continued throughout our lives even though we lived far apart. Terry was especially supportive, even in our darkest hours. I was very fortunate to see her and Casey last year for the first time in almost four decades and the bond was still obvious.

I will miss her welcoming smile and motivating spirit. Terry may be gone but will never be forgotten. May her soul find eternal peace.

So very sorry to hear of the loss of Terry. She was such a positive force for both of my boys when they were in Mt. Lebanon and Seminary Hill Schools. Always with a smile and so very present in their schooling lives. They were better students due to her unwavering guidance. My deepest condolences to her loved ones. May her memory be forever cherished.

Dear family members of Terry. What a Wonderful, Beautiful, Courageous, Funny, Sweet Lady she was. It was truly a pleasure to be with her, whenever I saw her, she would always make room for me to sit with her at many functions. The last time I saw her she was at Fore-U with friends. Beautiful gal, Terry Rest In Peace.

Terry was an usher at Lebanon Opera House and I was a House Manager. We clicked almost from the start and became fast friends. She and my husband, Ike, also bonded...due to some health issues - another story. We loved visiting her and getting her hugs and her love. Used to take her special plants till her apartment was too full of them. I loved how she was totally honest and free and said what was on her mind....in no uncertain terms. I loved her, she was a dear friend. Am happy for her that she is free of all pain now, and probably visiting with Alan and Anthony and other other friends who have gone before.

I only knew Terry in high school but I clearly remember what a nice and energetic girl she was, something I'm sure she carried well into adulthood. RIP Terry and thank you.

To the family of Terry, My husband and I are part of the cardiac support group at DHMC and got to meet this amazing woman ! At our meeting earlier this month she shared cards with all of us that she had made. We have never met such a strong and caring person who face the end with more dignity than you can imagine..........We are grateful to have gotten to meet her a few times.
