In the 80's and 90's George and I worked closely together in the Aeropropulsion Lab at W-P. We worked on advancing supersonic and hypersonic air-breathing engines including ramjets, scramjets, and various combined cycle engines. Our work focused on the basic and and applied research phases where we were determining feasibility prior to entering development of future weapon systems. It was exciting and challenging, highly technical work.
I remember George as a top-flight engineer. But more importantly, as a Branch manager he had remarkable people skills, which brought out the best of those in his charge and served him and the Air Force well. His team worked through the remarkable technical challenges of high speed propulsion and flight using air-breathing engines. He worked effectively with our contractors and laboratory staff as well.
I will always cherish the time we worked together and the friendship we enjoyed.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
