Lawrence "Larry" Brown

New London, NH - Lawrence "Larry" Walter Brown, 87, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at his home in New London, New Hampshire, with his family by his side.

Born in Rutland, VT on March 12, 1938, and raised in Springfield, Vermont, Larry was the beloved son of the late Dorothy Burroughs and Walter Brown. He earned his degree from the University of Vermont (UVM) in 1960, where fate intervened, and he met the love of his life, Gail Kaufmann. They shared a remarkable 65 years of marriage, built on a foundation of love, partnership, and mutual respect.

Following his graduation, Larry proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, working as a dedicated Hospital Administrator. After his military service, he transitioned to a successful civilian career, working as a financial analyst for NY Telephone and AT&T while earning his Master's in Business Administration from Hofstra University. He retired from AT&T after 30 years.

Larry had a passion for golf and was a familiar, friendly face on the greens at Bent Pine Golf Club in Vero Beach, Florida, and Lake Sunapee Country Club in New Hampshire. Until recently, he was also an avid reader and was a constant presence several times a week at Abbott Library in Sunapee. Larry will be remembered by his friends as the ultimate gentleman, always welcoming them with a handshake and a smile. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending cherished time with his family at their cottage on Ledge Pond in Sunapee, New Hampshire, where countless memories were made.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail Kaufmann Brown, residing at Hilltop Place in New London. He leaves behind a loving legacy through his daughter Karen Brown Timbrell and son-in-law Stefan Timbrell, along with his grandsons Max and Henry Timbrell of New London, NH and stepgrandchildren Connor and Mackenzie Timbrell. He is also survived by his son Richard Brown of New London, and his granddaughter Ansley Brown of Vero Beach, Florida.

A celebration to honor Larry's life and memory will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Sunapee Visiting Nurses Association Hospice Organization who provided remarkable care for Larry in his final days.
