I met Jeanne in September of 2010. I started working at the University of Dayton at the Emporium. She worked days and I worked nights. We talked occasionally and in 2012 she was looking for a new place to live. I had some apartments close to UD and she went to see them and decided to move in. She could walk to work and in a short time it became her home. In 2016 I left the emporium and Jeanne retired from UD. I still worked there until 2021 but I started visiting Jeanne regularly while doing work outside and renting the other units. She was going through many health problems and we became good friends during this time. She loved her baby´s Fezz and Ginger and would see them regularly outside enjoying the sun and working in her garden. I spent many hours sitting with her and talking about gardening, our families and life in general. She was always planting new flowers each year to see if they were to become one of her favorites. After she went through the terrible time of needing to be permanently in a wheelchair, together we decided to keep her love for gardening still going. We built raised flower beds along both sides of her walkway so she could still enjoy her spring, summer and fall outside doing what she loved. Walking up to her door was always beautiful with all her flowers, the butterflies and bees that she fed with her flowers and the hummingbirds were also her friends. She met many of my family as we worked to keep the yard looking good. With all of our visits in the sun or in the home we really enjoyed talking together. Sometimes it was about UD, our families or things we enjoy eating. We were like sisters laughing, crying, celebrating and knew we could depend on each other for advise. Jeanne had so many health problems the last couple years and stayed strong during them but she was getting to the point that coming back home (she loved her home) was harder than she thought. I did get to visit before she passed and it was a beautiful visit. We laughed, I cried and the friendship we shared was still there but the love and wonderful memories we shared as friends will always be in my heart and put a smile on my face. See you again some day
