Paul L. Adams

Chichester, NH - Paul L. Adams, 95, of Chichester, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Epsom Healthcare following a period of declining health.

Paul was born on June 27, 1930, in Pittsfield, son of the late Frank C. Adams, Sr. and Doris E. (Robinson) Adams. Following high school Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. He was stationed at the Air Weather Wing in Tokyo, Japan. While there, he met and married Miyo Kanbe. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Paul enrolled at the University of New Hampshire where he earned an Electrical Engineering degree on the GI Bill. He went on to earn a Masters in Engineering Management from George Washington University and eventually earned a doctorate in Management from Walden University.

Paul worked for the Weather Bureau starting in the late 1950's and had assignments at both the North and the South Pole where he analyzed temperature and wind statistics. Paul and his family moved to the Washington, DC area in the 1960's and he continued to work with the Weather Bureau, which became the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In the 1970's, Paul went to work as a civilian for the Navy at the Pentagon. He was responsible for long term planning and worked under the Chief of Naval Operations.

Paul enjoyed travel, was a voracious reader and liked a good scotch. He was a lifelong member of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC), serving as a volunteer for reservations on the Cabins Desk and was avid about camping and canoeing. One of his favorite activities was to take a long walk with a cigar. He cared about the environment, completing the wetland delineator certification program at UNH. He also spent some time on the Planning Board in Chichester.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Frank C. Adams, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen (Campbell) Adams, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage; children, Samuel Adams of Chichester, Patricia Adams Tarasek of Fairfax, VA; and Amanda Adams of HI; two grandchildren, Douglas Tarasek and Malia Hansen (James) and one great granddaughter, Tilly Hansen.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10AM at Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield.
