Dearest Son we have always been so proud of your willingness to serve Our Country. People have their freedoms because of your sacrifice and those brave men who died this morning 13 years ago with you. I did not know your comrades then but have come to know them and their families over the years. We will never forget. Thank you

Time has not healed the sorrow of losing the best soldier and friend that I ever had the honor of serving with. Murph, I really miss you and all the Great times we had together. It is not easy to talk about your passing, and most people (except other vets) simply cannot comprehend the bond of Brotherhood that military personnel have towards each other. It is a constant battle not to given in to the nightmares of the horrors we faced. Wish you were hear to talk to, but I guess this will have to do. The struggle is hard but I will not give up because I pledged to your memory and to your family that I would Live a full and productive Life in your honor, to do anything less would descrate your sacrifice and memory. I know you would want it that way. I Love You Brother and I miss you. You will never be forgotten. Till I stand with you again on God's Parade Field in Formation. Till then.

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

I was in Warren's fire team when I first joined the Blacksheep back in 1998. Warren was my fire team leader, and he was always there to make sure I had my gear together and knew what to do. I was fortunate to have Warren in my platoon when I returned from Officer Candidate School in 2001 as a new 2nd Lieutenant.
Warren was a big reason for my being successful as a platoon leader. He was a rock, and was a person I could always count on to complete what ever task the platoon needed. Sometimes I may not have wanted to know how, and thinking of some of the "unique" ways some of these tasks were accomplished, always brings a smile to may face. I was transferred out of the Blacksheep in 2003, to another company in the battalion, but whenever I could, I used to go look up my much missed brothers from the Blacksheep.
I last saw Warren on 4 January 2005 in Taji, Iraq when I was on a mission to train the Iraqi Army. I never could have imagined it would be the last time I would see my friend, my brother, my "stray cat", my reason for becoming an officer. Had I known, I would have gladly traded places with him, and taken his seat in Charlie 24.
January 5th remains a very difficult day for me. I lost too many friends on that day. Brad Bergeron was in my platoon when I first joined the Blacksheep. Armand Frickey was a young kid who I first met when he was wanting to join the Blacksheep, came into my platoon, and developed into a man. Kurt Comeaux, and Chris Babin were in 2nd platoon, but were people I considered friends and brothers, as I still do all my beloved Blacksheep. I met Huey Fassbender at Ft. Hood, and I knew he would be the kind of soldier I would love to have in my platoon - full of humor, and a natural leader.
When I think of my friends, I am filled with good memories of the fun we had, the difficult field times we endured, and the bond that forms as a result.
It has been just over four years, but the loss of these men, my brothers, still causes the tears to flow.
I have moved on, and am no longer in the military, but I will not forget my friends, the brothers, I have in the Blacksheep. I miss you all, and hopefully we will be able to meet again someday.
To Warren's family, Warren was a "Hell of a man". I can think of no better way to describe him. I miss him and the rest of my fallen Blacksheep every day. The wounds have not healed, and the sorrow has not left my heart, but the laughter, good times, and great memories will always be there as well.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Warren, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Warren,

As the holiday's approach, I can't help but remember all the times we had with you. The parties at my house, the summers you and your brother Sean spent with Charles and Michael unloading the groceries after a trip to Sam's, the playful torment and banter of wrestling with one another and the surprise visits you and Sean would pay me when you had a break from your military exercises. How I loved those visits. I pray for you and your family during this holiday season. I know you are watching over us all. I think of you all the time.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

Dear Larry and Bonnie and all the Murphy family,

God truly does move in mysterious ways. I just found out about your son's passing at this late date. I don't get the paper and sometimes try to avoid the TV news. But God must have wanted me to know.

My Mom is a parishoner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Chalmette. She attended the 2 day mission held just before Easter. My Mom told me about the Mission, how good it was, how moved she was, how much she got from it.

My Mom continued her story about this Mission and the wonderful Deacon who led it. She repeated the story of how this Deacon had just lost his son. The story moved me to tears. I wanted to pray for this young soldier and his family.

I asked the Deacon's name and my Mom could not remember so she got up to look for the Church bulletin. I asked her to describe the Deacon. As she spoke I started to tremble. My Mom placed the bulletin in my hand and briefly saw Deacon Larry Murphy's name before I again dissolved in tears.

I worked with you years ago at EPMAC Larry. I remember attending one particular picnic. Larry and Bonnie sitting on a blanket with their kids tumbling around them. It was joyful experience! I suppose that is how I will always remember the Murphy family.

God bless you all, you will remain in my heart and prayers.

Dear Murphy family, Especially Sean

My deepest sympathy goes out to our family in this time of grief. The first time I meet Warren was at a Mardi Gras parade with his brothe Sean. I was teen Miss Marrero and they spoke to me and made me feel good about my self. that is the one thing that I will always remember about Warren is that he never let you put your self down. He always found something good in everyone he could. He will truely be missed by one and all. Thank you Mr. and Mrs.Murphy for raising such a careing gentelman.

Warren's family: It is with utmost regret to hear about the passing of Warren. I went to school with Warren at Shaw for four years and I have many vivid memories of my time with him. I remember many many lunch times sitting down with him while we talked about comic books, collecting cards, and girls. There were many times I remember bowling with him and Sean.

As with many people, I cherish my youth memories. I am glad to have him as a part of them. He did give the ultimate sacrifice for all of us...and for that he is a real hero. He showed true love for what he did. "Love is giving and it has nothing to do with what you receive."

Warren: Thanks. Even though I haven't talked to you in tens years, it seems like yesterday since we last hung out. Like a watermark on paper...your memory has left its lasting signature on my heart. Thanks again friend.

I graduated from Archbishop Shaw with Warren in 1994. I remember that Warren was going into the service after graduating, but the thing I remember most about Warren was he always had a smile on his face. He was such a great guy to talk to and hang out with and just laugh. He died in the most noble way a man can die, he died to protect his family, his friends and innocent people that he didn't even know.

As a student of Archbishop Shaw we were taught by the Salesians...the followers of Saint John Bosco, the apostle of youth. In Shaw's chapel, there is a plaque dedicated to the memory of deceased alumni. On it is inscribed not only the names of our deceased brothers, but also the last words of Saint John Bosco.

As Saint John Bosco lay dying he said, "Tell my boys that I wait for them all in paradise."

Certainly one of the first people Warren met when he got to heaven, probably one of the people pushing to get to the front of the crowd was Saint John Bosco welcoming one of his boys to heaven.

My prayers go to his family and all whose lives he touched. May God Bless you and protect you and give you comfort in this, your time of great sorrow.

Like Christ, Warren paid the ultimate sacrifice to make us free. Each day when I thank my Lord for my family and my freedoms, I will thank Him also for the gift of Warren.

May God blass Warren and his family, and the many men and women who risk their lives DAILY to keep us free.
