Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Michael J. Stokely
US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Michael, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Michael J. Stokely. My heart aches for you, and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the deep hurt you feel can be in some part be eased by the feeling of great pride for Michael's valor and deep sense of patriotism. He will always be remembered as an American Hero by my family and we will never forget the great sacrifice made by your family.
In spite of all that happened here in New York City that dark Tuesday morning nearly six years ago, millions continue to live and work here without fear, because of our awesome U.S. Military. We still stand tall and proud here today, thanks to wonderful people such as your Michael.
To Michael I would say you have made the ultimate sacrifice and did so willingly and without hesitation. Thank you so very much for defending my freedoms. It means so much to me, to the people of NYC and to the entire nation. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of the country that I love so very much.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
May God be with you until we all meet a Jesus’ feet.

We are sorry it took us so long to post an entry for your family member. We are trying to catch up after locating this website. God Bless Legacy.com for allowing us to honor these heroes.
We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Michael in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and Spc. Michael J. Stokely, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.

On this Memorial Day, 2007, we remember you in a very special way, Michael. You made the ultimate sacrifice for those around you and for me, and my family's freedom. My husband had two tours of Vietnam and we were blessed to have him return healthy. But we lost many friends that I know are there with you in God's kingdom. Even though we never met you, we were there on the day of your funeral to proudly stand there outside in your honor, and to let your family know that you touched our hearts. Peace and comfort to your family always as time goes on without you there with them.
All gave some, some gave all.......

Lauren and Wesley were pals and classmates in the first grade. She remembers Michael being at the house when she would go over and swim in the pool with Wesley, Abby and Daniel Thames. How the years have passed so quickly. Her memory is so clear and vivid of him being a very kind and protective "big brother" type to the whole bunch. She also remembers when he visited us with Abby, Wesley and their Mom came to our house in Peachtree City and the kids played in the golf cart the entire afternoon. What dear memories. Our family would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family for your loss. We have lived in Roswell for the past eight years and often think of you all with such fond memories and now with such heavy hearts. Please drop us a note. Michael's family,
My sincere sympathy goes out to each of you. Michael's bright smile and warm personality will never be forgotten by those of us who were fortunate enough to have known him. I was Michael's 7th grade science teacher at LMS. He was one of those students who made teaching so rewarding. It was always a pleasure to see Michael at Hill's - he would go out of his way to come over to say hello and give me a big hug. I am so proud of him and feel so honored to have known him. Although he will be missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of so many.
Thank you, Michael, for being such an honorable young man. I know God's arms were open wide as he welcomed you home.

Mike,
You have been and will always be so missed by so many of us. I can't thank you enough for the honorable service that you gave to the country and to all of us. But, even more, I cannot thank you enough for all the lasting memories that you have left me with. I don't think my years in school could quite compare if you hadn't been a part of them. You will never know how much your generous spirit and sparkling smile meant to everyone that came across your path. Whether it is the pranks we played on each other or the many "life" conversations, you played such a major part in my life and I will always be gratfeul for that. Thank you again for being our hero, and thank you for being my friend. You have carved a place in all of our hearts and will never be forgotten. I can only hope that you will watch over us from heaven like you did when you were here.
Love always,

I am proud that there are people like Michael, who are willing to answer the call to duty, when it comes. His job is done, and now, we that still survive, owe him a great debt of graditude. Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for a friend. –John 15:13".
For Michael's young wife, don't think that you must live alone, after the loss of your brave husband. I hope that God will send you another wonderful Christian man to complete your life with. To his parents: Keep Niki close to your hearts and when God sends her life partner to her, rejoice in that God has given you yet another to love. God bless and keep you all and one day I will meet with you in Heaven.

To the Stokely Family.
We do not know you personally but your words about Michael certainly makes us feel we know him. For sure, we have missed knowing a great young man. It is obvious that you have reared your son Michael in the ways of the Lord and you gave him all he needed to be an exemplary citizen, and a strong military leader. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you and we will be standing on Hwy. 78 today as you travel to Snellville.
It is only a small way that we can say thank you to you and especially to your son for carrying the torch of freedom to those who never knew freedom. He will not be forgotten by us. My husband Ray served two tours in Vietnam so we are grateful for his opportunity to touch so many lives. There were many in heaven to welcome your son, a hero. We know your heart is breaking but Michael is where he was born to be, although much earlier than planned, smiling down upon each of you.

My grateful thanks to the Stokelys both for their courage in this time of grief, but also for their love and guidance in rearing a son that gave back what thousands of other young american men have given during this nation's history.
As a career military man, it provides me with the greatest appreciation for those who serve today.

To Michael's Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time. I met Michael at Loganville High Scchool. I will always rememeber that he had a huge smile on his face. Even though we weren't the closest of friends Mike would still say hello to me, he was a very nice young man. I am very appricative of what he was doing for our country. Words can't describe how much respect these young men deserve that our fighting for our county. I will never forget Mike's huge smile. I am so deeply sorry for the family's loss. Again my prayers are with you.

To the family of Michael Stokely:
Along with my oldest daughter Jill Aaron and her two daughters, ages ten and six, we stood in silent respect along route 78 yesterday to pay tribute to your son Sgt. Michael Stokely. As we looked on, my youngest grand daughter asked why I had tears in my eyes. I tried to explain to both girls how painful it was for us all who stood along the road that day, who came out to honor a fallen hero, your son Michael. I tried to explain that Freedom Is Not Free.
I have just this week returned from the 23rd annual reunion with members who served in Vietnam in my Rifle Company , Mike Co. 3rd Battalion 7th Marines. Each year some portion of the over 714 members that presently make up the M 3/7 Association meet somewhere in the USA to call out each of the names of our fallen brothers and honor them and the sacrifice they paid for the precious freedom we enjoy in the country. From 1965 to 1970 Mike Company lost 198 in combat, each and everyone of them just like your son Michael is special and will always remain in our thoughts and memories.
I was especially moved today after reading the loving tribute to Michael in the paper and reflecting upon the fact that we will all once again be reunited with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I look forward to that day as I know Michael's family does.
There is no greater gift to give that to lay down one's life for another. Thank you for your son's life.

To the family:
My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. I have known your family for practically all of my life. I have so many memories of our families and I have watched Michael grow up into such a fine young man. Michael was always so sweet and funny. I think everytime I ever talked to Michael, we were always joking and laughing about something. Melissa, you brought Michael up so well and you should be so proud of what a fine young man he turned out to be. Michael loved you so much. Niki, my heart goes out to you. I know you loved Michael so much. I could see it in your eyes when you talked about Michael. Your face just lit up. My prayers are with you and just know that one day you will see Michael again and hold on to all the wonderful memories you have.
We love you,

To the family of Michael Stokely,
I lost my son, Cpl. Lance M. Thompson, USMC, on 11-15-04 due to
hostile action in Iraq. The pain
you feel is understandable but the
pride you feel for Mike (as expressed in the letter from his mom)brought tears to my eyes. We
raise our children to love God and
their country and then pray that God
will guide them forward. I know
that God has plans for Mike and Lance that we will know only after
we meet our sons again.
