Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Michael D. Martino US Marine Major

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Today we all celebrate our freedom. It is a great day for America and all of us. Having lost my son who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom I think about all those great men and women before him and after him that have also made that same sacrifice. I think of all those young men that landed at places like Normandy and Iwo Jima and free a sense of immense gratitude for their sacrifice. I feel it is our duty to preserve those freedoms by remembering those sacrifices that were made to earn them.

As we get ready for another 4th of July I just want to thank you for the freedom's we enjoy. Freedom is not free as we have lost so many fine young men and woman to help preserve it.

It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years (and a few days) since that horrible day and I still remember the moment they told us you were gone. Memories flood my mind, single moments frozen in time. One of you standing next to a Cobra saying Good Morning, one of you running back to run with me on a PFT... And so many others.. We will NEVER Forget.

Dear Mr & Mrs Martino, Robert, Lauri, and family,

Although 10 years have passed please know that Michael is remembered almost everyday by those that had the opportunity to call him a classmate, teammate, and more importantly call him a friend. While life's journey sent us on different paths as adults. Michael is still engraved in my life as a young man that showed having honor, respect, and commitment for ones self, his family, and his beliefs are what life is about. Michael was truly wise beyond his years.

I was privileged to have know your son and brother in this life.

Respectfully,

Michael, you were my inspiration to help our troops, everywhere in the world, to preserve the peace and security for all. You paid the ultimate sacrifice and your parents and siblings have endured the pain no one should have to endure. But your parents channeled it into their efforts to support troops serving everywhere and our chance "meeting" let to me helping her sine November 2009, which still continues today. You are an angel now, watching over your family and our military. May you rest in peace in God's loving arms till you are reunited with your family again. Thanks for your service and sacrifice Michael. You ARE a hero.

One day while reading my friends email I noticed she always had a phrase on the bottom of her page. I decided to click on that page and found a picture and story of our fallen hero. I was overwhelmed with the emotions I felt toward this family . I made it my mission to meet them to thank them for there son's service. I will never forget meeting them. I felt as though I knew Michael after spending the day and visiting his grave. I will never forget Micheal and his family.

To Michael, his family & friends:

I didn't know Michael - I discovered his death while reading Faces of the Fallen in the Washington Post. I wanted to let the family know that Michael was remembered, appreciated and mourned today, even if it was from a complete stranger. From what I've read he was an amazing person, and I'm terribly sad he was taken from this earth so early - but thank you for your bravery and sacrifice. God bless your family, and I hope to meet Michael in heaven one day.
