Benjamin,
I have been communicating with your family for a long time now and wanted you to know that this past Saturday here in the town square of Lancaster, PA, we organized and held a Remembering the Fallen Ceremony where we read the names aloud of all the men and women who have given us much. It was a day of remembrance and respect and to have people realize all these men and women were not just numbers. I was both humbled and honored to have been given the sheet of 70 names which happened to have your name on it. It was an emotional moment for me.
Please just know that you and your family was sent a special prayer from me to you on that day, at that moment.
In loving remembrance,

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the family of Benjamin:
Today is Memorial Day - sadly I admit to being one of those people who simply celebrated Memorial Day with a day off work and the first of the summer picnics. I come from a military family (great-grandparents, grandparents, and a father and uncles and cousins) - I am not proud of the fact that until 2005 I looked at Memorial Day in such a fashion.
Last year at this time and again today this year I think of all who have sacrificed so much, brave men and women who gave their last breath for me, the families and children left behind to carry on without them. I think of the men and women still serving our country and pray for their safe return every single day; mostly I pray for an end to this war that is costing so many so much.
Today for me, is spent not in picnicing, but in reflection of all of the above and as I have said many times and mean ever still - I can no longer think of Brent without thinking of Benjamin as well as his family.
Please know my heart is with all of you today as I know yours is with our family as well.
Much love, much gratitude and all the respect one can have Benjamin!

May this give you comfort and strength through the difficult days.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

February 8, 2007

Thinking of you all today and wanted to share this with you all...when you think of Benjaminn -think of these words as well:

"We go through life so often,
Not stopping to enjoy the day.
And we take each one for granted,
As we travel on our way.

For in your pain and sorrow,
An Angel’s Kiss will help you through,
This kiss is very private,
For it is meant for only you.

We never stop to measure,
Anything we just might miss.
But if the wind should blow by softly,
You’ll feel an Angel Kiss.

A kiss that is sent from heaven,
A kiss from up above.
A kiss that is very special,
From someone that you love.

So when, your hearts are heavy,
And filled with tears and pain.
And no one can console you,
Remember once again.

About the one you grieve for,
Because you sadly miss.
And the gentle breeze you took for granted,
Was just your Angel’s Kiss."

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To Benjamin's Family,
I wanted you to know that I went to Fort Indiantown Gap this 12/14 as I had been asked by the Wreaths Across America project to represent the State of PA at the National Veteran's Cemetary to lay a wreath in honor of all veterans everywhere. I was honored and humbled to do this and then went to re-visit the memorial there at Fort Indiantown Gap as well. As I promised you Phyllis, whenever I visit there, I will kiss your son's nameplate in rememberance and love and said a prayer for him and his family. You all are in my heart and thoughts and prayers especially this week.

My mind has been on Ben, his family, and others that I served with in Iraq a lot this past week. Not only was it Veterans' Day but Ben's 22nd birthday last week. I trained with Ben at Camp Shelby, traveled to Iraq with him, and we both got news when we landed that we were not going to the post our orders stated but we did go to the same place. He was a VERY special young man and Soldier to me; my favorite one that I had trained with. Polite, gentlemanly, and a disciplined Soldier. I had supper with Ben the night before he was taken from us. He had given me his camera to use because mine was broken - that's the kind of guy he was. Twenty four hours later I'm going through Ben's personal belongings and planning his Memorial Service. It was the 1st memorial I'd ever attended, it was for my favorite kid Soldier, and I was the main speaker. WOW! The reality of war had set in hard and fast just a mere 9 days after arriving in Iraq. What can I say about Benjamin C. Schuster without writing a book? You're a HERO, sorely missed, and you will NEVER be forgotten!! Rest Easy Soldier!

Benjamin is the love of my life and he will continue to be until the day we meet again, as he put it he's "my better half" We have all shared laughs and happy times together with Ben and lets continue to remember those times, i've only known Ben for about 5 yrs. and with in those 5 yrs he had taught me a lot, and one thing that i no would make Benjamin happy is that we all join together and appriciate what he has done for us and be happy, he would not want to see us crying. Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock! And that we now know our "Guardian Angel" personally!

To the Family of Pfc. Benjamin C. Schuster:

I am deeply saddened to sign yet another guest book. We grieve with you in the loss of your precious son Benjamin. I know exactly how you are feeling and what you must be going through. We too lost a son (SFC Brent A. Adams) in Ramadi, Iraq on December 1, 2005.

As a mother/parent I know there is nothing I can say that will ease your pain and sorrow over the terrible loss of your son. I know your hearts are broken and there is now a void that will never be filled. While the pain will probably never leave, I pray the Lord gives you comfort and peace of mind to help you cope over time. This is an extremely difficult time, but hold on to those good memories of your son….the ones that make you laugh and remember with joy the moments that you shared. The laughter between all those tears is one of the ways that will help you work through your grief. Benjamin is a hero (a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities) and even though we were not fortunate enough to know him we pray for your family and for all those serving our country. Our children have made the ultimate sacrifice and they will always be honored and never forgotten. Unfortunately these tragic events have bound all of us together and changed our lives forever. God bless you all!

Dear Schuster family, I want to express my dearest condolences in the loss of your son, a great hero. I am very well aware that there are no words than can take away the pain you are experiencing now, as I lost my son, Charles S. Cooper Jr. on 4/29/2005 in Iraq. Remember that these young men are brave and will always be in our hearts forever. My thoughts an prayers are with you for now and always and from our family, God Bless you for your sacrifice. With out these special men and women we would not have our freedoms.

To the Family of Pfc. Benjamin C. Schuster:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.

To the family of Ben, Words cannot express the grief I feel for the loss of your son and brother. He was a wonderful man, and a hero to all Americans. Although there is nothing that will make the pain of Ben's loss go away, I am sure in the coming weeks, the heartfelt and sincere words displayed here about your distinguised and caring son will help ease some of the pain of his loss. Ben was a true patriot and friend. He will be greatly missed. You family is in our thoughts and prayers and we will never forget Ben and the great sacrifice he has made. Although we have never met, I and my family are so sorry for your loss. Your son Benjamin is indeed a true hero, and we are eternally grateful to him for the sacrifice he made to protect us here back at home. I wish I had the words of comfort for you, but I know I do not. It is my prayer for you though that you will find that comfort and eventual understanding through the Word of God. We will always hold you in our prayers.

Dear Schuster family,

We want you to know we share your pain & loss as we, too, lost our son this past year. He served with the US Army 1/1 Cavalry and he is and will always remain a hero to us for the selfless way in which he, along with your son, Ben, and all the other young men and women serve our nation and fight to keep us free. Their ultimate sacrifice reminds us always of the terrible price that is paid for this gift of freedom.

No one like another parent who has lost a son or daughter can really understand the pain you are feeling..and our hearts and prayers are with you. If we can ever help in any way, if you want to talk or email, please let us know. Take some comfort in knowing that Ben is with our son, Bob, and all the other soldiers who have gone before them in heaven now. Peace to you all.
